Biting Gnome Boo Boo Bag & Burn Buster!

Hey there!

Last week I managed to keep up the blogging thanks to the "scheduled posts", a very handy tool of blogger. You write your entry, but choose date and hour for it to be published!

This week, I've been a bit busy, and even though I've been getting a good number of packages, and I've managed to take photos of a good bunch of them, but I've been a bit lagging in the blogging department, but I'm trying to get back into track, both with real time & scheduled posts!

One of the packages I got recently was from the talented Karyl from Biting Gnome Baubles! I've talked about Karyl's cards in a previous post here, but today I will talk about her Burn Busters (coffee and other hot beverages sleeves) and her BooBoo bags!

Her Burn Busters are made of either fleece or cotton with a felt backing, to protect your fingers from the heat of any hot beverage, and to help you go greener, not having to use those cardboard sleeves that you throw away! I got myself a super cute lime green with pink guitars fabric sleeve, with a sewn in pink felt heart!

She has quite a few different sleeves in her shop, for Twilight fans, for Harry Potter fans and for those who like cute things in general! If you like having your coffee on the go, a Burn Buster is a must for you!

Karyl's got the idea to create her BooBoo Bags cause she gets frequent headaches, and she likes to get something cold to help her feel better! She first started using flax seeds for the fillings, and those can be easily heated or cooled, and retain both heat & cold longer than other fillings, like rice. She uses super cute cotton fabrics, and I chose one of my favourite fabrics, the Alexander Henry skulls in pink!

I haven't used it on the heat, since luckily I haven't got any sore muscles as of late, but I have used mine cold to help with headaches, and the cold pack does feel nice and soothing! If you're prone to headaches, I'd recommend you get one! You can even pick a custom fabric!

Cupcaking Obession!

As some of you might have noticed, I've been pretty much obsessed with everything cupcakes & baking as of late (at least till this blasted heat wave arrived, cause now the thought of baking makes me sweat buckets!) so much that the bf joked that I had been possessed by Martha Stewart...

It all started with Tom's recipe for cupcakes, as well as my own back-to-baking with the lemon muffins... Then I saw Deb's recipe in her blog for S'mores Cupcakes that recommended foil lined liners for best results, so I turned to Etsy to look for cupcake foil liners... and I found all sort of goodness! Currently I've bought from two shops: Sweet Estelle and The Cupcake Social, and both have had super fast shipping and great customer service!

From Sweet Estelle:

From The Cupcake Social:

And outside of Etsy, I was looking for recipe books for cupcakes and other bakes, so I went to my usual online bookstore: The Book Depository (that has free worldwide shipping!) and got myself a book: GoodFood 101 Cupcakes & Small Bakes and also a set that includes frosting tips, a recipe book and a bunch of cupcake liners: Cupcake Kit!

Now, I'm just wishing the weather will cool off a lil bit so I feel like baking again, cause there are a bunch of things I want to try!

My Little Pony, Custom Cranium Style!

This has been a blog entry for too long on the making! So much, that I have to ask forgiveness from Darien, the amazing artist behind Custom Cranium Osteo-Oddities, cause I promised her a blog entry a long time ago!

Darien not only makes the most amazing Snuff Stuffies from both discarded stuffed animals, and the bones of animals that died of natural causes or accidents, giving them both a second life, but she also tried her hand at painting My Little Ponies, and I fell in love with her pieces, and it was then when I got my first piece: the PiliPony! A gorgeous Day of the Dead style pony, and you can check its own blog entry here!

After that, I asked Darien for another two painted My Little Ponies, this time inspired by Iron Maiden's "Somewhere Back In Time" tour and all their Egyptian set up! Darien was as always more than willing to take on the task, and plunged into it, creating two amazing & unique pieces, and one lil mini-pony as a lovely surprise extra!

I can't say which of the two I'd choose as my favourite, since they're both painted with a great attention to detail! And I love that both have their eyes painted with the Eye of Horus!

Red-haired pony with a Royal Scarab on her hindquarters and Horus falcon in its forehead:

Blonde-haired pony with an Ankh on its back and a Cobra on its forehead!:

Tiny lil Pegasus pony!:

I now have 4 Ponies in my collection, and I foresee a few more in the future!

TokyoTombola, or how to get your fruit to Cosplay!

The heat is still here, but at least I don't have to work today, cause after working night shift (and having quite a bad shift) I've barely slept in the morning...

So, here I am now, with a cup of coffee (I know, heat & coffee) and working on yet another blog entry! Finally, I'm getting a bit more regular on the blogging, though I'm afraid that next week I'm having quite a busy schedule, so I don't know how much blogging I'll be able to squeeze in...

You already know about my love for my fruit pouches I got from the crochet genius that is Tom from Tokyotombola, and how it's helping me avoid snacking at work and eating more fruit, which is generally a very good thing. But what you don't know yet, is that now I've added a third pouch to my collection, that will not only help protect my fruit, but will also help it indulging in a bit of Cosplay!

Scratching your heads yet? Well, the explanation is quite simple, Tom has outdone himself, and has crocheted two amazing sushi fruit pouches! A red ebi and a pink ebi, and after a bit of trying to decide which one to get, I grabbed the red ebi pouch! If you're wondering what ebi sushi is, well, ebi is a jumbo shrimp on top of a ball of sushi rice!

So that's exactly what this pouch is, a red crocheted jumbo shrimp opened butterfly style, on top of the whitest rice ever crocheted! It might seem silly, but I can't help but marvel at how shiny & white the pouch is! So much, that I've decide to reserve it to special occasions, cause I don't want it to get too dirty too soon if I just dump it every day on my filled to the brim, bag that I take to work.

If you're wishing you could have got it before me... well, the pink ebi is still available at his shop, so hurry up and grab it before someone else does!

I know have to nag Tom to work on some crocheted maki pouch, or even a Californian roll! Mmmmm, all this talk about sushi is making me want to eat sushi now! I must go to the Japanese restaurant soon!

Winning a Glamasaurus Giveaway!

Winning a giveaway is always a special feeling, and recently, I've been the happy winner of two!
First one was one of HeartSizedCrush's Free Shit Tuesdays, but I'll be dedicating a full blog entry to it, and the second one, was hosted by Gaming Angels, and the prize was a gift certificate to Andreanna's shop: Glamasaurus.

Glamasaurus is full of all things cute, geeky & delicious looking, and as her tagline says, it's so sweet that it'll give you cavities, just by looking at it!

So winning a $30 gift certificate to her shop was like giving a kid free reign on a sweet shop! But truth be told, I already knew what I wanted to get, since I had been wanting the most edible looking necklace in history since she listed it!: the Chocolate Deluxe Cookie necklace!

Getting a package from Andreanna is really like getting a present! It's wrapped so nicely, that it makes you feel not like you've bought something (or won something, in my case) but like you are getting a proper gift in the mail!

And inside that super cute packaging, there it was, the most realistic chocolate cookie made with polymer clay in existence! And if you add to it, the faux whipped cream and the mini plastic donuts & chocolate... it looks so delicious you wanna eat it!

She also sent me a super cute mushroom bobby pin, and a super cute cookie ring! The danger of such a ring is that you might end up nibbling on it when you are hungry and bored... cause once again, it looks like a proper yummy cookie!

Showing it off to the bf, he went on his usual rant for when I buy "food looking things": "You are evil! I'm gonna end up eating one of those things and then we'll end up with me in the ER and you explaining that I ate a piece of soap/necklace/etc that looked/smelt like chocolate/a donut/a cookie!" He does have a point, since he has already tried to bite into one of the delicious chocolate smelling soaps that I have while in the shower...

But I can't help it, I love all these food-looking goodies, even if they look delicious but are not edible! Even if I do feel like biting into them on occasion too... ;)

Zen and Coffee Designs!

First things first... you have to allow me to celebrate that Spain will be playing the final of the World Cup against Holland! Hooray!! The very first time we've made it this far!!

And now, we will continue with the scheduled program for the day...

Today's blog entry is dedicated to Wren from Zen And Coffee designs, and her lovely arm warmers and fingerless gloves! I met Wren at the Attack of Craft forum, and loved her shop! She has all sort of fingerless gloves, from Alice inspired ones, to velvety ones, to any and all that you can wish for!

Since she belongs to the CraftAnon Etsy Street Team, she usually takes part of the weekly TNT sales (every Thursday a different sale on tons of Etsy shops), so I decided to take advantage of said sale one week, and got me two pairs of fingerless gloves!

All her pairs have unique names, and I got me the "She's In Parties" and the "The Sanity Assassin" pairs! Both are made with stretchy velvet fabric, both equally gorgeous!

The fabric is probably not the ideal for the heat wave we have right now, but it's not as hot to wear them as I would have expected either. They're really comfy and look great on!

She's In Parties

The Sanity Assassin

I'm already planning on what other pair(s) to get next! I have my eye on the Alice's Curiouser and Curiouser ones, and also in the First Jhana ones! But as I said, she has so many great pieces! She even has some Doctor Who inspired pieces!
