Wearing Handmade Wednesday: A cover for my KitchenAid!

Hey everyone!

How's Wednesday going? Mine started a bit on the not so good side, but nothing that a paracetamol and some extra sleep couldn't deal with!

Today we're back with Wearing Handmade Wednesday, and this time is an awesome collaboration of two very talented ladies: Jamie of Warning Label Creations and Kylie of Fabulosly Fierce!

I wanted a cover for my KA, and I didn't want any of the old boring ones I'd already seen, so I decided to ask Jamie and see if she wanted to attempt making me a custom one, including some custom embroidery that Kylie would do, and it worked great! Embroidery panels on the side and cupcakes fabric, it's absolutely perfect!

It's practical, decorative and cute, and my Miss Marple KA couldn't be happier with her cover!

Friday Feature: Warning Label Camera Bag!!

A bit of a late entry today, but I have been quite tired, sleepy, fuzzy-brained and unmotivated today... that's what working night shift two days on a row can do to you! But after dinner, I got a bit of a brainwave for a Friday Feature!

As you all already know, I love bags of all sorts and kinds, and have quite a collection, and since I started with my love for photography, I've been looking for THE camera bag to tot around all my gear in style. I have three camera bags already, one of them the Rocky Van Gory camera bag that Brooke & Rhiannon collaborated on, and this one, custom made from scratch by Jamie from Warning Label Creations for me!

I discovered the Ghastlies fabric through either Jamie herself or my taste twin, Deb; and completely fell in love with it, and I knew I needed the pink fabric for this bag! The bag has zipper closure, padded dividers and an adjustable strap, so the bag can be worn as a messenger bag or as a shoulder bag.

It fits my camera, my kit lens, my lensbaby, extra memory cards, extra battery, charger, lenspens, mobile, wallet and any other little every day extras I carry! I used it all the time in my trip to Zurich, and it's an awesome bag to take around, doesn't look like a camera bag, and it's super cute, so it's an amazing bag to be added to my collection!

Traveling Thursday: Zurich!

Hello everyone! For this week's Traveling Thursday, I'm sharing photos of my most recent trip, this past weekend to Zurich, Switzerland!

G's family were there on vacation, so I decided to join them to spend some time with his elder sister and her family that I hadn't seen in almost two years, since they live in the US.

On Saturday we went to see the Rhine Falls, the biggest waterfalls in Europe, and the walk from the train station to the falls themselves was also gorgeous!

On Friday we went to Conny Land, a small amusement park, with a very cool rollercoaster, called the Cobra! And we saw the dolphin training session too!

And I didn't get to see too much of Zurich itself, except on our ways from the Central train station to our hotel, but since that's smack in the centre of Zurich, that was a nice view!

Packing for a weekend means only hand luggage, and my Weekender Dolly bag was perfect for it!

Switzerland looks like a lovely country that I'd love to visit again, but I should try and learn some German for my next trip, it'd make things easier!

Shopping Handmade for my photography gear: Warning Label tripod bag!

Hello everyone!

Monday is here, and though it is not the beginning of a work week for me, cause I've worked this weekend, it has been a very lazy and not particularly motivating day for me, even if I got some nice packages in the mail.

After some pondering over a cup of coffee I realized I should work on showing off how to keep buying handmade when it comes to photography gear! And no, I'm not talking about cameras or lenses made out of cardboard!

You all know already I'm always gonna try to look for a handmade alternative, and after getting my tripod, I started a search for a tripod bag on Etsy, and I have to say, it's sad to see how very little artisans & crafters have photography related gear and accessories, and how most of the camera bags are all the same basic style, and even if fabric wise can be female photographer oriented, none of them are different from your usual messenger-style-camera-bag. Of course, I got my own different kind bag with my Rocky Van Gory camera bag.

That got me thinking, and the obvious solution presented itself: why not ask Jamie? Jamie is the brains & hands behind Warning Label Accessories, and she's always ready for a challenge! She's made me custom bags, custom strap covers, and all sort of things, and this time she didn't disappoint me, and was all willing to take on the challenge!

We went for a drawstring closing bag, with an adjustable strap, that can be worn across messenger style to take it around with me more comfortably, and of course, I chose a fabric that would make it sure I wouldn't miss it anywhere, pink with skulls! ;)

Here you can see my amazing tripod bag! Isn't it awesome?

Even the bf was considering getting one made for himself! ;)

Wearing Handmade Wednesday: EyeScream Industries, Warning Label Creations & Alliebeans!!!

Hello everyone! Wednesday is here once again, and since I didn't do the Wearing Handmade Wednesday entry, I'm doing a cluster of Wearing Handmade Wednesday goodies!

And all in one photo from one day!

Enlace
Here you can see the kind of bad influence I am... Gaurav all ready to leave for work in the morning, wearing his EyeScream Industries scarf, his strap cover for his bag by Warning Label Creations and his custom made pouch for his Zune by Alliebeans!

And to share a bit more about the items: the EyeScream scarf is fantastic, and not only it looks super sleek on, but it's super functional, and I've already stolen if from him and worn it myself a pair of times, which reminds me I need one for myself. The Warning Label strap cover is something G asked to get made for himself after seeing the one Jamie custom made me for my Rocky Van Gory camera bag, and let me tell you, Jamie did a brilliant job on matching the strap cover fabric to the bag colour! And last but not least, the Alliebeans pouch, once again, G saw my custom iPod pouch and wanted one pouch for his Zune, we chose a fabric he liked and Allie was so nice to even make sure both Spain & India where used for the construction of the pouch (it's a world map fabric), how cool is that?

This is proof of two things: a) I love giving handmade to others & b) The quality of the handmade items speak for themselves, so if you give handmade you can convert others to the handmade way! Now Mr G thinks he wants a new custom tripod bag for his tripod after seeing the super cool one I got for myself!

Valencia, Iron Maiden and the handmade way to it all!

Happy Friday everyone!

I hope you all had a great week, and are getting ready for a fun weekend, or those like me, who work this weekend, will have an easy time at work!

Finally, some overdue shots for G's trip to Spain! In this blog post I'm gonna focus on our weekend in Valencia, where we went to catch Iron Maiden's last concert of their tour for this year!

Instead of driving all the way or going by plane (fast but more expensive) I opted for going on a fast speed train, it took less than 4 hours, no hassles about parking, no check-ins and it was quite a comfy ride, and less than €50 per person. Next year, with the proper High Speed train (called the AVE), it'll be like 2 hours going to Valencia!

Once we were in the station, we could see a lot of people sporting Maiden tees, and of course, all of them were taking the same train we were, which must have been curious for other passengers, as well as the train staff...

Upon arrival at Valencia, out of the train station (quite a nice train station, as you can see in the photos), and on our way to the hotel (I chose a hotel close to the station instead of close to the venue, cheaper and more convenient for the day after when you sleep in after an amazing concert) we saw loads more people all around with Maiden tees, and before us to register at the hotel, there was a group of 4 guys, all sporting Maiden tees, to the bewilderment of a middle aged couple behind G & me, that were wondering if there was a Maiden "convention" during the weekend!

Valencia's Estacion del Nord

We had to wait for a bit for our room to get ready, so we went for lunch, some yummy ice cream, and G did take some really great shots of yours truly at the hotel's dining area!

On the foreground you can see my awesome Warning Label Maiden bag!

Sporting my Maiden top by Vivifromage!

After a bit of a nap it was time for us to get ready and head to the concert. Doors opened at 6'30 pm, but we were getting ready to leave at around that time. Now sporting my leather pants and my very awesome AngryGirl Gear Iron Maiden corset, we went on our way to the Auditorio Marina Sur! We went via metro, and like us, many other Maiden fans!

Ready to rock with my AngryGirl Gear corset!

Even if we weren't 100% sure of the way to the venue, all we had to do was join the dressed-in-black crowd, and sure enough arrived there! The venue is quite nice, with a location right by the sea, and I'm sure the amount of people dressed in black, with long hair and tattoos must have been bewildering enough to the families coming out of the beach!

The concert was simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! These guys are all over 50, and have such an energy on stage that I'm sure not many other groups can top! And of course, I just loved listening to many songs that I hadn't listened to live yet. This was my 4th Iron Maiden concert, and the third one that G & me have been at. Since we've been together we've gone every year to a Maiden concert! And next year, we plan to go to both the India and Spain concerts for their next tour (if they play in both countries, of course!).

After the concert and figuring out how to get back to the hotel with Valencia's public transport overwhelmed with 22'000 people, we had some kebabs from the only place near our hotel at 2 am, and went to sleep close to 3 am!

The next morning after checking out in our hotel, we did some tourist shopping for G to take back home, and found ourselves a nice place to eat brunch! We had some pan tumaca & iced tea as starters, while we waiting for our awesome Valencian paella for two!

Pan tumaca is just bread, slightly toasted with olive oil and natural tomato!

Valencian paella is made with veggies and chicken, and doesn't have any seafood in it.

After our yummy lunch, sporting our newly bought at the concert Maiden tees, we headed to the train station to go back to Madrid!

G wearing his new Maiden tee, he wants it reconstructed into a hoodie, I'm a bad influence!

It was a short trip, and we wish we have had some more time to visit Valencia a bit more, but we did the best we could with the short time we had!

I'm a bag addict: Warning Label Accesories!

Happy Saturday!

It's not everyday that I get a weekend off unexpectedly! I had to work Friday night shift, but I exchanged the day with a co-worker, so since I worked night shift on Wednesday, I don't have to go back till Sunday night shift again! So, weekend off out of nowhere!

I've been taking a bunch of photos to show off some of the stuff I have been buying as of late, and of the things I have loads but can't get enough of, is bags... I've never counted the amount of handbags, purses, clutches, messenger bags, etc that I have... and I don't intend to, lol!

One of my favourite bag makers is Ms Jamiebuns from Warning Label Accesories, and she doesn't only make awesome handbags, but also camera strap covers, tea wallets and even kilts... well, let's just say I'm checking her Etsy shop very often!

Since my last post about her goodies, quite a while ago, I've bought:

- A Black Market bag (very roomy so you can go do some grocery shopping & it would double as shopping bag & purse).

- Two amazing clutches with handmade flowers as embellishments. I loved both with those great fabrics, and I couldn't choose just one, so during one of her sales, I got lucky and snatched both!

- A custom kilt in one of my favourite fabrics (the Tattoo Zen Charmer fabric) that I still don't have any pictures wearing it, but as soon as the weather gets warmer, I will!

- A screen-printed tote with Swallows True Love, great everyday bag, very roomy!

- A sleeping mask, this one is amazing for when I have to sleep in the mornings after night shift. I can't sleep when it's very light, and it's hard to block out the light of day, but with this... I sleep sooooo much better!

- A custom camera strap cover, with the same fabric of my lens pouches by MsChrista, but in pink! I love this one! I'm using my original Olympus strap as a strap for my bowling bag, and this strap cover not only makes it look a thousand times cooler, but also way more comfy to carry around!

- My most recent purchase, a custom Quiescent Quaintrelle tote bag, with an amazing Iron Maiden cameo! Not only the fabric of this bag is totally luscious, but since I'm going to Iron Maiden's concert in Valencia in August, it's gonna be the bag I'll be taking with me on that weekend trip! *headbangs*

So far, that's all, but she's come up with a totally brilliant netbook bag that is just to die for... so maybe next month I'll bug her to make me a custom laptop bag just like it!

I've you have fallen in love with Jamie's bags and must have one (or a dozen) you're lucky! She's running a SALE right NOW! $10 off, even in custom bags!!

Warning!: Custom Creation from the Label!

Finally! Time and energy to write a new blog entry!

I have been planning to write this entry since Tuesday, when I got my very awesome bag from the amazing Jamie of Warning Label Creations, but first, I wasn't too keen on the pics I had taken, and then my camera's battery died, and I had a few very tiring days at work... So the blog entry got delayed till today, my first and only "sort of" day off this week (I worked last night, so today doesn't really count as day off).

After getting my gorgeous clutch from her, I saw a bag browsing Etsy made with Alexander Henry's Inked Tattoo Girls fabric, and fell in love with the fabric! But I had seen Jamie's new style of bag, and thought that combining her new style with this fabric would be a win-win situation! I asked Jamie and she agreed with me, and got onto working on my newest custom bag (it's my fourth bag made with a fabric bought from Lucky Kaeru Fabrics, and now I have an eye on some of her fabrics for a few pillows).

Here you can see my new beautiful bag! Inked Tattoo Girls, with the most perfect fabric placement, with red piping and black fabric for contrast, and the CUTEST skullie appliqué in pink leopard, that is the perfect unique touch for it!

After a few fights with my camera, I opted for this self-picture, kindly edited by Gaurav to try and fix a bit the colours and other general issues, cause this was the only photo where I liked how I look like, though the bag looked great in all the others too!

So, now you know that Jamie not only makes awesome bags, but can also create that perfect custom bag for you!
