Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted at Breaking The Spine that spotlights those can't-wait-to-get-my-hands-on-them books that we are eagerly awaiting!
What book am I eagerly awaiting and bitting my nails while I await its arrival? The Shadow Cabinet by Maureen Johnson!
"The thrilling third installment to the Edgar-nominated, bestselling series.
Rory and her friends are reeling from a series of sudden and tragic events. While racked with grief, Rory tries to determine if she acted in time to save a member of the squad. If she did, how do you find a ghost? Also, Rory’s classmate Charlotte has been kidnapped by Jane and her nefarious organization. Evidence is uncovered of a forty-year-old cult, ten missing teenagers, and a likely mass murder. Everything indicates that Charlotte’s in danger, and it seems that something much bigger and much more terrible is coming.
Time is running out as Rory fights to find her friends and the ghost squad struggles to stop Jane from unleashing her spectral nightmare on the entire city. In the process, they'll discover the existence of an organization that underpins London itself—and Rory will learn that someone she trusts has been keeping a tremendous secret."
Why am I eagerly awaiting The Shadow Cabinet? Well, I read and loved the two first books in the series last year and the ending of book two was rather cruel, so I cannot wait to read this one! I'm not sure if it's the final book in a trilogy or the third book in a longer series though!
What are you all (im)patiently awaiting this week?
Oops this totally reminds me that I never read the sequel! I really enjoyed book 1 though I should really get to that! >.<ReplyDelete
Yes! And since this one is now closer to publication, you won't have to wait as long with the evil ending of book 2!!Delete
Do you know I've never read anything by Maureen Johnson? How much do I fail Pili! There are so many amazing authors out there I want to try but haven't had time to get to yet. I have a hard enough time keeping up with my favorites! I hope this book is everything you want it to be though:)ReplyDelete
I know what you mean Jenny!!! Can you believe I still haven't read anything by Sarah Fine?? And I own quite a few of her books too!!Delete
The first book really peaked my interest but then I found out it's a series so I decided to wait. I hope this is the last book cause I'm definitely ready to pick them up :DReplyDelete
I just saw on Goodreads, says there's a fourth book... darn....or maybe it's a good thing if this series is so good ;)ReplyDelete
Yeah, I'm still not too sure if I'm happy about the 4th book or not! Mostly cause I was expecting it'd be a trilogy you know!Delete
Yay! I hope you'll love this book Pili. <3 Fingers crossed :) I liked book one, but had issues, so didn't read book two :p but I have pre-ordered the UK paperback of this one (A) so I'm planning on reading them all. One day. Maybe. Was so pissed off about the romance :p It bothered me. Sigh. Anyway. Thank you for sharing sweetie. <3ReplyDelete
Thank you sweetie!Delete
I can understand why the romance would bother you!
YES! This was my WoW not too long ago! I soooo can't wait to read it! I still need to read The Madness Underneath, I've held out for so long because people mentioned a killer cliffhanger, so now I can finally almost read it!ReplyDelete
Here's my WoW
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
The ending was rather evil indeed, so it was a wise choice to wait till this one releases! I hope you'll enjoy reading them back to back Jessica!Delete
I read the first book when it came out and adored it as i'm a big fan of stories about Jack the Ripper. But I haven't felt the pull to read the sequel yet. I'm not sure if I'll enjoy them.ReplyDelete
Yeah, the second book was about more than just Jack the Ripper and though I really liked it too, it was a lil different, the scope was wider! I'd still suggest you'd give it a try Mari!Delete
Hmmm, I think I have the first book in the series... or maybe I gave away my copy... I'm *almost* curious enough to read the book, but that would mean starting a new series, which I'm being even pickier about this year :D I hope you enjoy this book when you read it!ReplyDelete
Have a fabulous week, Pili :)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
I know what you mean about starting a new series! I have so many ongoing ones and others that I have in my list of must-start! Too many books, too little time!Delete
I hope you end up loving this one! And if it's a series conclusion, I hope it's a good one. Disappointing conclusions are so . . . disappointing. :DReplyDelete
I found out that there's one more book in the series, so I hope that this one will be interesting and not feel like a filler!Delete
Thank you Kaitlin!
I have only heard of this series recently but it looks pretty good! I think i will toss it on the pile! *hugs*ReplyDelete
Yup, I highly suggest you do Britt! I'm quite hooked on this one!Delete
Oooh I've heard quite a bit about this series so I will have to go and check it out!ReplyDelete
Great pick, Pili <33
It is quite an interesting series, Melanie, so I hope you check it out!Delete
I'm apprehensive about this book. I was VERY upset by that ending of book two. I'm going to wait for some reviews and see how people are feeling about it. Can't wait to hear what you think!ReplyDelete
Jen @ YA Romantics
Yeah, the ending was rather awful! I cannot wait to see what's going on!Delete
I'm glad to hear that you loved the first two books. I bought them both at a signing with Maureen almost two years ago. And....I still haven't read them. But I requested Shadow Cabinet from my library in an attempt to try to get myself to finally read these. Hopfeully it works!ReplyDelete
I hope you can get to read them and like them, soon!Delete
This reminds me that I haven't read the series! :P A lot of my friends love the series though so I don't know why I've been putting off reading it for so long! It's so hard to read all the books though, Pili! Especially since we all have so many recommendations coming from various sources *sigh*ReplyDelete
I hope this book will be what you want it to be and will give you a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy :)
Rashika @ The Social Potato
I know what you mean Rashika! I found out that this one is not the last book, but there's gonna be a 4th! So I'm hoping it won't feel like a filler!Delete
