Tell Me Tuesdays #4!!

Tell Me Tuesdays is a meme/feature created by the awesome ladies of Please Feed The Bookworm and La La In The Library where we can share how we choose the book we are currently reading from our TBR pile!

I'm always curious about that, cause as much as I tend to make myself a rough schedule for books to read and the like, I'm quite a mood reader and sometimes I just HAVE to ignore my schedule and read something else!

Chantress by Amy Butler Greenfield

"“Sing, and the darkness will find you.”

This warning has haunted fifteen-year-old Lucy ever since she was eight and shipwrecked on a lonely island. Lucy’s guardian, Norrie, has lots of rules, but the most important is that Lucy must never sing. Not ever. Now it is 1667, Lucy is fifteen, and on All Hallows’ Eve, Lucy hears a tantalizing melody on the wind. She can’t help but sing—and she is swept into darkness.

When she awakes in England, Lucy hears powerful men discussing Chantresses—women who can sing magic into the world. They are hunting her, but she escapes and finds sanctuary with the Invisible College, an organization plotting to overthrow the nefarious Lord Protector. The only person powerful enough to bring about his downfall is a Chantress. And Lucy is the last one in England.

Lucy struggles to master the song-spells and harness her power, but the Lord Protector is moving quickly. And her feelings for Nat, an Invisible College apprentice and scientist who deeply distrusts her magic, only add to her confusion…

Time is running out, and the fate of England hangs in the balance in this entrancing novel that is atmospheric and lyrical, dangerous and romantic."

I picked this one as my July read from my "Alyssa recommends" list, inspired by Epic Recs, where Alyssa from The Eater of Books recommend me a book and I recommend her another! Since I was in the mood for fantasy I decided to pick up this one!

So what are you all guys reading and how and why did you decide to pick up that book? Shiny new ARC? Comfort read? Scheduled for review? Must have new release? Tell me!!

  1. I have a schedule for ARCs, but I try to leave room in it for impulse reads, so that I get the best of both worlds!

    1. Very good idea!! I try to have a bit of a schedule for ARCs too, but I don't always stick to it too well...

  2. I'm a schedule girl. I can't deal with the blog without having a schedule of reviews, so I tend to read in order of upcoming release date. There are of course exceptions when a book comes out that I have to read immediately, but mostly I stick to the schedule because I'm a little OCD like that ;-)

    1. I wish I could stick with a schedule all the time, but despite me being good at that, there are times when I just can't and need to through it away and read whatever I feel like, or end up in a reading slump! I wish I was as organized as you are, Jenny!

  7. I can't wait to hear what you think about this book, Pili. I preordered it last year, and have never *gasp* read it. But I want to!! I'm still rereading Kate Daniels, and now I'm rereading Immortal Beloved by Cate Tiernan, b/c I still hate everything, and only rereads are safe. Hopefully I'll bust this funk up soon!

    1. Reading funks are awful but as long as you have re-reads to keep you happy, they're not so bad!
This one I'm liking so far, but not loving, we'll see!

  10. I'm reading a petty meaty historical novel right now. It's interesting and definitely not the fast-paced YA that I've been reading, lately. Its called THE FORTUNE HUNTER by Daisy Goodwin

    1. Historical fiction can be a bit dense on occasions, but it also makes for lush reads!
