Wearing Handmade Wednesday: Madfoxes!

Hello everyone!


After a very busy day at work yesterday, with a double shift, and some nice sleep this morning after the night shift, I'm all ready to share with you all another Wearing Handmade Wednesday entry!


Today's entry has also been dug up from my old photos from the HDD, which is proving quite fruitful, and I've realized that I haven't shared quite a few old time sellers!

Madfoxes is one of those sellers I discovered years ago on eBay, selling bands recons and the occasional geeky one, like my Stormtrooper halter! As most handmade seller she made the move to Etsy when eBay changed their policies, and she continues to sell her tops there, so if you want a band summery top, you'd do well to check her shop!

Wearing Handmade Wednesday: ReVamporium!

Wearing Handmade Wednesday arrives a lil later than previous weeks, but I've had to go do some more digging in my HDD, and had to do it after work and I'm still crossing my fingers so my lappy doesn't get stuck and decide to die like he's been doing previous days...




Today I want to show off an pair of old photos, wearing a great recon by ReVamporium! I discovered her on eBay, quite a while ago, when eBay was full of handmade goodies. She then did move to Etsy, and she is still offering great recons of heavy metal & rock'n'roll bands in custom sizes! Check her shop out!

Wearing Handmade Wednesday: Poppy's Wicked Garden!!

Hello everyone!


Getting ready for a big celebration to say goodbye to 2010? Going to any New Year Eve parties? I won't be worrying about what to wear or where to go, since I work night shift at the hospital, so I know exactly where to be and what to wear! I'm just hoping we'll have a not-too-busy-shift, and we'll manage to have the 12 grapes at midnight!


But let's not forget today is Wednesday, and so we have our Wearing Handmade Wednesday feature here too!

Jennifer or Poppy as she's also known, is the amazing lady behind Poppy's Wicked Garden brand of clothing, and her many shops and ventures. She can whip you up a lovely girl's dress as well as reconstruct a guy's tee into a fantastic geeky & girlie top! Monday OFF!!


It's been such a loooong week this past one... Since I started working on Tuesday, I've barely been doing anything other than work and sleep, since things at work have been pretty crazy!


But I'm now getting ready to finish my packing and get ready to fly next Thursday to the US, again! So, between the crazy work times and the packing I've been completely lacking on inspiration. That has pushed the Sunday Shots into a combined entry for both past week and this current week, that will hopefully be posted this Sunday!


So, after feeling terribly guilty about how often my fellow blogger Brooke at Brooke Van Gory updates her blog and after reading about Amber from RockerByeBaby setting up herself to update more regularly her own blog, so I decided that I should tackle at least a pair of blog entries!


I'm gonna start the week with my entry about Isla New York Clothing line and her amazing designer and creator, Regina!


For a change, I didn't find her shop, but it was my boyfriend who linked me to her Maria top, and told me that I needed to get it, not only cause we have the same name, but also cause he was sure it'll look great on me (are you thinking I'm such a lucky one cause I have a bf that looks around Etsy and finds clothing for me to buy? I sure am, and you don't know half of it!) ;)


I added the Maria top to my favourites on Etsy, and found that were other lovely tops in her shop, so not only I got myself the lovely Maria top in yellow (even if I've never been a yellow fan) but I also bought an Oly top in coral for my sis-in-law's b-day!




Regina kept me up to date via twitter and Etsy convo on the progress on both orders, and made sure that I would be getting the top in time for my sis-in-law's b-day! Communication is huge on her list, as is making sure every and each one of her creations is made with love and attention to detail.


My sis-in-law loved her Oly top, and has been wearing it a lot all the summer, too bad I have no pics to show you, but I do have some shots of my trip to Wisconsin this summer wearing my Maria top, that both Divya and Deeksha (Gaurav's sisters) loved to bits! (There might be a Isla New York top on their future, hmmm).


We went on a trip to Madison and spent most of the afternoon by the lake, and it was absolutely gorgeous and it was a great time to take some pics and show off my lovely new summer top!

SmarmyClothes!

After going back to work, and actually having a good shift for once, I decided to spend some time re-checking the pics I have to use for my blog entries, and decided to get onto writing another blog entry while watching some Bones repeats.

I met Lex from SmarmyClothes through DIYScene, as I've met so many amazing others before. Lex not only is a very talented seamstress and designer, and aside from managing her own website and her Etsy shop, she also manages Whatthecraft.com, an amazing website full of all sorts of information, like tutorials and all sorts of helpful resources for crafters! She also organizes contests for crafters with amazing prices! (I am honoured to be part of the jury for those!).

My first purchase from Lex was a pair of Smarmickers, one with owls and one with skulls & crossbones, that I still haven't been brave enough to model, but after those I've been in love with many of her amazing clothing pieces, either reconstructed from shirts or made from scratch, and finally caved in and decided to jump at the chance and bought a short sleeved and a long sleeved tops. Both flawlessly constructed and sewed, both cute and with an edge, and both have become part of my absolute favourite pieces of clothing! I've very happily added Lex to the list of amazing DIY-ers I'll always go back to buying from!

Here you can see my Sneaky Mr Bat top (the bf says it's the right top to wear to see Batman) and my Bleeding Heart Disease top, that Miss Lex knew I'd love, being a nurse as I am (and she is).

I've also been thinking for a while to comission her for an Iron Maiden dress, since she accepts all sort of custom orders for reconstructing tees into tops, dresses or skirts, I just need to find the right Maiden shirt!

EyeScream Industries!

Whenever I check my days off and the like in my schedule at work, I always make loads of plans about the time I'll have off to dedicate to my blog, with taking pictures and actually typing the blog entries... but I always end up thinking I'll do more than I actually do, yesterday was my day off, but I didn't manage to write the blog entry, so now, on my self-imposed schedule, I'm running on a delay... and since I'm getting a few things coming, and I'm not getting days off till next week, it might mean a bigger delay that I'd want for my blog-writting... oh well!

This blog entry is dedicated to the lovely Nicole from EyeScream Industries Clothing & Accesories, and the quite amazing Iron Maiden reconstructed top I've got from her!

I met Nicole through DIYScene, the forum about DIY & Handmade I frequent so much, even if I'm not a crafter, and just a lover of all things DIY & Etsy addict (yes, I have to admit it, I'm addicted to Etsy!).

I had loads of good references from other crafters and sellers, so I knew her clothing was really good quality! So, as she mentioned she wanted to reconstruct some Maiden tees, I instantly suggested she'd do one in a medium size (*wink, wink*), and kept my eyes peeled for when she posted it in the forums for all to see. As soon as I saw it I knew it had my name all over it, so went straight to Etsy and bought it!

It's an amazing original Powerslave Maiden t-shirt, with really warm 3/4 sleeves and a cowl neck with a zipper! Probably my favourite part of the top are the faux fur cuffs, so soft and really give the top the umph! to totally rock! I looked great on Nicole's cute self, and it does fit like a glove for me! Here you can see the back of the tee, with the amazing artwork, and a pair of pics of me sporting my shiny new Maiden tee!

Nicole, I really can't wait for you to make more Maiden recons! I'll be keeping my eyes peeled! ;-)

Jenjoy Designs - Homegrown Clothing

Yep, I'm on a roll! Apparently having a few days off have worked wonders with my blog-writing motivation, and I've decided to write at least another two blog entries, to compensate for those two I didn't write the past week.

I came across Jen, owner and designer of Jenjoy Desings, in myspace, and fell in love with the original, yummy and cute clothing she offered! At first she only sold through eBay and myspace, and she then got her own website: Jenjoy Designs, where you can find not only OOAK clothing, but also some designs in limited edition custom sizes, usually, just one of each size offered. And she even offers FREE shipping worldwide!

Jen has two jobs: designer and creator of DIY & OOAK clothes and mother of two lovely girls, talk about a modern woman!

The first time I came across her clothes, I thought them a bit expensive, but loved them, so decided that the moment I could allow myself some extra money to spend, I'd try and buy something. And when I got my first Jenjoy hoodie/top, I was completely in love! The quality of her designing, sewing and finish is STUNNING! Every one of the pieces I've bought from her have been exceedingly good, and the quality of the clothing a total joy to the eyes... After buying DIY for a while, one learns to spot the good quality and to certainly appreciate it! Now, everytime one of my clothing purchases arrives home, I tend to inspect the stitches and the general construction of the garment, and her clothes (amongst many others, don't worry, all will be featured here in this blog!) are always up to the test!

I've bought a few of her dresses and tops, and after seeing how well made they are, the time and quality that is into them, I wouldn't say they are expensive. Handmade & DIY clothing (as well as bags, accesories and the like) as long as they have good quality, are bound to be more expensive than your regular Bershka top (for the US, think Hot Topic) but they're also made with love and are as unique as they can get! For me, money spent in good DIY is money well spent!

I own a good number of her pieces, but I don't have as many pics in them as I'd like to show you, but from these two I guess you can tell how cute and well made they are!
