Wearing Handmade Wednesday: Heavy Metal Picks!!

Well, well, today's Wearing Handmade Wednesday is brought to you courtesy of my very awesome boyfriend, even more than usual, cause after going through all my photos I couldn't find any that would work, so I asked him to try and work something out, and he did!

My awesome damask Heavy Metal Picks' necklace!

I wore one of my awesome guitar pick necklaces from Heavy Metal Picks to Sonisphere, and I have another I plan to wear to Metallica's concert in India in October. They are simply awesome pieces for any occasion but for a gig, they're just beyond ideal! Just go check Kahlaw's shop on Etsy or her website, and you're sure to find the perfect rock'n'roll jewelry for any metalhead!!

aka Cinders ~ Eco Friendly Fashion Jewelry and Accessories!!

Friday is finally here, and even if I work this weekend (again), at least I'll be able to sleep in since I'm done with the course I was doing in the mornings this week, and I'm back to my 3 pm to 10 pm usual shift.

To celebrate Friday I want to introduce you all to a shop full of extremely unique and also eco friendly necklaces and other accessories called akaCinders, and that is run by the talented Cinders herself!

Cinders make the most unique necklaces and broochs with flowers she makes out of eco-friendly felt, that has been spun from recycled plastic bottles. Talk about a green fashion statement!

I discovered Cinders' Etsy shop a while back, through her daughter, Poppy, the talent & threads behind Poppy's Wicked Garden (I have to say, talent does run in the genes in their family!), and I had been keeping an eye on it, till I saw the Sweet Hearts Dance necklace and fell utterly in love with it! It's super cute, and I think the vintage style heart charm absolutely makes this necklace!

Unless you buy something from her Ready to Ship section, all of the necklaces are made to order, so Cinders gets to work on your necklace after your purchase, it will mean it won't be the one you see in the photo, but it will be made just for you and will look just as lovely, even if there might be some slight differences, since the felt flowers are cut by hand.

I got my necklace super fast, and it came in a lil recycled cardboard box, with Cinders' hand stamped logo, that not only protects your necklace from being squished during shipping by not-so-careful postal workers, but also is ideal to store the necklace since it will make sure it won't collect any dust or be crushed by any other necklaces you might have in your jewellry drawer.

This necklace is meant to be worn as a choker, and it adapts to different neck sizes with the extender chain. It can be worn many ways, but I think it looks cuter if worn on one side of the neck!

If you're thinking you want one yourself, you're lucky! Cinders has a great promotion on her Etsy shop right now, if you spend over $20, you get a free Double Gerbera necklace! It's valid till Feb 14th and it's her way of saying Happy Valentine's Day to all her customers!

Hollyrocks!!

Hello there! Happy Friday!

Happier for me, as since after working the last two weekends on a row, I'm having a long weekend, and enjoying Friday, Saturday & Sunday off!

Today, I'm gonna be celebrating my friend's Pilu b-day with her, having sushi for lunch, and she's getting a good few handmade pressies too! So, to celebrate this rocking Friday, I'm featuring the talented & lovely Holly from Hollyrocks!

I met Holly through her Hollyrocks blog, where she shares her lovely handmade creations, her stories about squirrels, her work and her loves! From there, it was only logical that I'd check her Etsy shop, fell in love with loads of goodies, and eventually ended up buying something!

I decided that my first purchase had to be her Spiral Heart pendant, not only cause it's gorgeous but also cause it belongs to a series of listings from different sellers (Etsy Project Embrace) from which the funds go to the American Cancer Society, and since I work as an Oncology RN, I thought it was a great idea for a very worthy cause.

Holly sent me not only my wonderful pendant, but two gorgeous extras! The original pendant is in pink, so it'd be a great purchase and present this month since pink is the colour of October, to remind us of the fight against breast cancer. And she added a purple and a deep red ones!

She packed everything so lovely, I felt I was getting a proper present! And not only she included the two pendants, but also added a lil handmade magnet with her shop name, so cute!

I'm so in love with all the pendants! I'm trying to decide which one to keep and which ones to give as gifts, but I just can't decide! Maybe I should keep them all? But I really shouldn't be greedy, and share the gifts I get! Oh well...

I do plan on getting some more goodies for Holly's shop, since I'm in love with her Fall Leaf pendants, the red one is my favourite and also her I Caught A Star necklace!

El Trastero de Lolita!!

After a rush of endorphins and happiness high, I'm back on track onto the blogging. I've decided I'm gonna use the day before G arrives to schedule a few new blog entries for next week, and one of those will be the introduction of a new regular, weekly feature! But, you'll see next week, for now back onto today's entry!

I met Africa, the owner & artist behind El Trastero de Lolita via the amazing forum for crafters & lovers of all things handmade, Attack of the Craft, and once I checked her shop, I was in love! She has all sort of super cute accessories, necklaces, hairbands, brooches...

Once she released her Wonderland Obsession collection, I knew I had to get me those amazing Teapot necklaces! And since I couldn't decide whether to get the white teapot or the black teapot... I got both!

The best thing of Africa being a Spanish crafter, aside from the cool side of supporting local handmade, it's no doubt, the super fast shipping times!

The white teapot has a silver chain, whereas the black teapot has a bronze chain, both are made of shrink plastic, that is very light but also tough, it's not gonna break easily (unless a car runs over it or something of a certain force smashes it).

I have to say I just can't pick a favourite, having both black & white means that a tea lover and Alice fan like myself can wear one with any outfit!

I have my eye on her flower headbands next...

The Clay Pony!

Sunday is here, and with it, the end of my week off... But all good things come to an end, and I really feel I've enjoyed this week properly, and got some rest & relaxed and completely forgot about work!

Today's gonna be a day dedicated to catch up with the bf, and watch some Doctor Who! For those who don't know about this amazing British sci-fi show, you really need to check it out! It's fun, intense & simply brilliant!

In honour of the lil Doctor Who marathon ahead of me, this blog entry is all about Stacie from The Clay Pony, and my awesome Tardis cameo necklace!

Stacie has tons of cameo necklaces, non-cameo ones (Doctor Who related & not) and lovely handmade figurines. But she showed off her new range of Doctor Who inspired cameo necklaces on Attack of the Craft... I knew I had to get me one, so I did!

After a lil time trying to decide which one to get (Dalek, Tardis, K9... all entirely too awesome to make the choice an easy one) I settled for a blue Tardis cameo, and you may not believe it, but it is all handmade & sculpted with polymer clay & resin!

Isn't it just brilliant!?

Happy Sunday and Ooooooo Eeeeeee Oooooo!!

Pet Zombie Creations!!

Happy Saturday!

How's the weekend going everyone? Mine's going pretty well, today was a non-eventful day, but productive, since I got some photos done for at least three blog entries, this one being one of them, so I have two more to work on the following days!

This blog entry is dedicated to the amazing Destry from Pet Zombie Creations (yes, Destry is her REAL name, aren't you jealous of such a cool name!?) and her amazing jewelry! She defines it as jewelry that goes from kitschy to classy, and she sure has a piece perfect for everyone! (except those without class or kitsch, of course!).

The first piece I got from her, she had donated it to the former DIYscene4Charity shop, now CraftAnon4Charity, and not only I got myself an amazing piece of handmade sculpted wearable clay art, but I also gave money to a good cause! For some time I was in doubt whether to keep it for myself or give it as a gift, but I love it too much to part with it! Ain't it absolutely gorgeous?

My second piece, I bought it straight from her Etsy shop, during her amazing 25% off sale (that it's STILL going btw, go get yourself something while it lasts!!). And it was a piece I had been eying for a while, so I jumped at the chance of getting it at a steal! It's a gorgeous pendant made of polymer clay & resin, and I'm just absolutely in love with these "Love Birds"!

As I said, run to her shop and check it out, I'm sure you'll find something you'll love, and it's running a fantastic sale!

And finally, if you like my long sleeved hoodie from this pics... it from the amazing Rhi from RockyTheZombie!

Twilight Impressions by Noriane's Bijoux!

Hey there!

Having a nice Saturday? Mine was somewhat productive, if a lil annoying at times, grocery shopping past noon is a no-no! Luckily I got a Sachertorte cake and a bottle of Lambrusco for tomorrow's meet up (a friend of mine & yours truly are doing a lil b-day joint celebration), so hopefully after that I'll have time to post another blog entry AND Sunday Shots, hopefully.

But, Saturday evening's starlight belongs only to Noriane and her gorgeous line of Twilight inspired jewellery!

I found Noriane's shop in Etsy while doing a search for Twilight items while I was reading the series for the first time, and even though I've never been too much of jewellery fan... I fell in love at first sight with everything that she had!!

My first purchases were a beautiful necklace (Look After My Heart) and a bookmark (Pure Love) and those were just the beginning! From them on I've got more necklaces, bracelets and even a ring! (Yes, you've guessed right, I've never been a ring's girl... but Edward's Eyes is a special kind of ring!). I've even got myself a bunch of custom items, and it's always a joy to talk to Noriane and ask her questions, she always works with and makes sure you get exactly what you want! My custom pieces are more than amazing and absolutely perfect!

I've also got some of Noriane's pieces as b-day presents, I got my sis-in-law an "Edward's Eyes" necklace that she loved, and I've also got one of my best friends (and also discreet Twilight fan) a Midnight Sun pendant with a custom matching bracelet that I'd be tempted to keep for myself!

I've got sooooo many of her amazing pieces of jewellery that I wasn't sure if I should include of all them in one blog, but I've decided to add all the ones that I've taken shots of, so bear with me, there are gonna be loads of photographs!

Midnight Sun pendant (all sold out now)

Edward's Eyes ring

Jeans and A T-shirt bracelet

Custom Midnight Sky necklace

Lost in the Woods necklace

New Moon bookmark

Topaz Moon necklace

As you can see, none of them actually scream Twilight Fan! but are amazingly pieces of wearable art that fans and non-fans of the series alike can wear.

In case you're wondering, the two dresses I'm wearing are by Meow Kiki, the black shrug is by Lady Moon Designs, the two tops are by Label of Hope and the coffee cozie is by Crossbones Collateral.

HeartSizedCrush!

Well, well, well! Sunday again! No, this is NOT the blog entry for our weekly photography challenge. Gaurav hasn't sent me his photo yet, and I'm still debating which one of the few I took to use...

Instead, I'm writing yet another review, this time for the very awesome Karla from HeartSizedCrush!

I met Karla through DIYscene and fell in love with her wonderful artwork and designs, her necklaces and accesories have that cute but naughty and pin up feeling. She has worked creating custom pieces for various Roller Girls teams, as well as custom pieces for Colleen Duffy from Devil Doll (her line is named after one of their songs) and her designs are part of the band's merchandise now. She's now collaborating with the pin up model Angela Ryan, creating some custom necklaces for her.

In her shop she has a bit of everything: nautical stars, swallows, pin ups, sugar skulls, tattoo inspired butterflies... So when she offered a special sale, I jumped on it and purchased two necklaces I had been eyeing for a while: the lotus swallow and the tattoo butterfly.

Both are absolutely fantastic, with such vibrant colours! I'm absolutely in love with them!

Here you can see the lotus swallow (I think I'd say this is my favourite, but don't tell the butterfly):

And here is the old school tattoo butterfly, doesn't it have the most awesome colours?:

Stay tuned for yet another blog entry today, hopefully!
