Wearing Handmade Wednesday: Cielo Design by Miriam Shimon!

Hello everyone!

I think  it's been quite a while since I'm done one of these, but despite the photographs not being up to par to what any amateur photographer worth their while should be using, I wanted to share something for Wearing Handmade Wednesday!

Okay, so today I was playing around with one of my sarees (I've decided that practice makes perfect, so I need to keep on practicing till I can wear a saree properly with my eyes closed!) and decided to get a pic taken wearing one of the most amazing finds and purchases as of late from Etsy. I bought two amazing southache pendants from Cielo Design by Miriam Shimon, and since you can't really see it too well in the above photo here's another one so you can go all "aaaah, oooohhh" on it!

Ain't it gorgeous? It's got the desi vibe, but not being your typical Indian thing, so wearing it with a saree gives the whole attire a very "me" feel!

Friday Feature: Bethtastic!

After a few weeks of sharing music on Saturdays, this week I'm back to sharing some of my handmade finds with you on Friday.

This week on our Friday Feature I wanna share Bethtastic with you all. Her Etsy shop is full of wonderful images of pin hole photography turned into great pieces of resin jewellry like bangles and pendants.

She's a full time teacher and does the resin casting on her spare time, so her bangles take a while to ship (according to her latest update, now it's two months), but they're absolutely gorgeous! If you have a photographer in your friends or family, I can assure you that any of her "Through The Viewfinder" bangles or pendants would be very well received!

I was lucky the turn around time for my bangle was shorter when I purchased it, just a month, and then shipping was pretty fast. It's a big bangle, and I have a small wrist, so I have to wear it slide up, but still looks great as a summer accessory!

I am completely in love with the photographs that compose this bangle, since they all have that old style pin hole with the distinct colours and the vignette.

All in all, if you're not in a hurry, and want a lovely piece of handmade jewellry, you should check her shop!

Hollyrocks!!

Hello there! Happy Friday!

Happier for me, as since after working the last two weekends on a row, I'm having a long weekend, and enjoying Friday, Saturday & Sunday off!

Today, I'm gonna be celebrating my friend's Pilu b-day with her, having sushi for lunch, and she's getting a good few handmade pressies too! So, to celebrate this rocking Friday, I'm featuring the talented & lovely Holly from Hollyrocks!

I met Holly through her Hollyrocks blog, where she shares her lovely handmade creations, her stories about squirrels, her work and her loves! From there, it was only logical that I'd check her Etsy shop, fell in love with loads of goodies, and eventually ended up buying something!

I decided that my first purchase had to be her Spiral Heart pendant, not only cause it's gorgeous but also cause it belongs to a series of listings from different sellers (Etsy Project Embrace) from which the funds go to the American Cancer Society, and since I work as an Oncology RN, I thought it was a great idea for a very worthy cause.

Holly sent me not only my wonderful pendant, but two gorgeous extras! The original pendant is in pink, so it'd be a great purchase and present this month since pink is the colour of October, to remind us of the fight against breast cancer. And she added a purple and a deep red ones!

She packed everything so lovely, I felt I was getting a proper present! And not only she included the two pendants, but also added a lil handmade magnet with her shop name, so cute!

I'm so in love with all the pendants! I'm trying to decide which one to keep and which ones to give as gifts, but I just can't decide! Maybe I should keep them all? But I really shouldn't be greedy, and share the gifts I get! Oh well...

I do plan on getting some more goodies for Holly's shop, since I'm in love with her Fall Leaf pendants, the red one is my favourite and also her I Caught A Star necklace!

Wicked Bad Naughty Glass!!

Happy New Year!

And as my first blog entry of the new year 2010 I decided that it should be about Angie from WickedBadNaughty and her amazing glass art!

Angie is one of the many amazing ladies I've met in DIYscene, and she is a very talented artist! She makes stained glass necklaces, magnets and even tiles! And she also makes stunning flamework beads for jewellery!

Her talent and how she shapes glass leaves me truly breathless!! Working with glass is something I always found fascinating, and a glass artisan that makes beautiful art from a shapeless blob is truly talented in my view!

My first purchase from Angie was a set of four glass magnets that I split into two sets to give to a pair of friends of mine who had recently got their own homes! Both of them were stunned with the magnets and they're now displayed proudly in their fridges, make sure they're high enough to not be knocked down my pets or lil people!

With that order Ang was super nice to include a necklace she made for me, a Psycho Kitty made after my own nickname! (if you are wondering about it and my mental health... well, let's just say I'm a kitty with a bad temper ;) ). It's a beautiful pieces of gorgeous blue (my favourite colour) glass with a kitty wearing a collar with a P. Certainly has become one of my favourite pieces!

Her glass pendants are so beautiful that I had to get myself a pair more, so I ended up getting a lime green butterfly and a grey Egyptian bust! Truly gorgeous pieces! The lime green butterfly I wore for this year's work Christmas dinner, and got loads of compliments from my co-workers!

She's planning to make a whole line of glass pendants with Alice In Wonderland characters, that I just can't wait to see ( and probably buy a few!) but if you wanna take a look at a sneak peek, the first piece, a White Rabbit, is available at the DIYscene's charity shop!

And though I don't have a place of my own, and doesn't seem too probable that I'll have one any time soon, I got myself a gorgeous trio of glass magnets! With the same artwork, but in different colours, and they look absolutely stunning together!

If you're looking for something unique either for your fridge or your neck, I can recommend you check her amazing Etsy shop, where you can find even work-badge holsters!
