Wearing Handmade Wednesday: akaCinders!!

Hi there! *yawns* How's Wednesday going peeps? After working night shift I'm yet to get some shut eye, but I decided to write today's blog entry while I wait for the postman to come, so I can then take a nap without interruptions.

Today's Wearing Handmade Wednesday's photo was taken by my personal photographer and love of my life, and he edited it to make it look as vintage style as the Vivifromage dress I was wearing, though the entry is NOT about the dress!

My absolutely gorgeous akaCinders flower necklace!!

I already introduced you to akaCinders awesome necklaces in this previous entry, but since then I've bought another two gorgeous necklaces for myself, and I've given a brooch and a pair necklace as presents! The last time I wore this necklace I got so many compliments of it, such an unique piece, and even better, eco-friendly!

If you've fallen in love with this piece, you need to check akaCinders Artfire's shop, and see the many more gorgeous necklaces she has to offer!

aka Cinders ~ Eco Friendly Fashion Jewelry and Accessories!!

Friday is finally here, and even if I work this weekend (again), at least I'll be able to sleep in since I'm done with the course I was doing in the mornings this week, and I'm back to my 3 pm to 10 pm usual shift.

To celebrate Friday I want to introduce you all to a shop full of extremely unique and also eco friendly necklaces and other accessories called akaCinders, and that is run by the talented Cinders herself!

Cinders make the most unique necklaces and broochs with flowers she makes out of eco-friendly felt, that has been spun from recycled plastic bottles. Talk about a green fashion statement!

I discovered Cinders' Etsy shop a while back, through her daughter, Poppy, the talent & threads behind Poppy's Wicked Garden (I have to say, talent does run in the genes in their family!), and I had been keeping an eye on it, till I saw the Sweet Hearts Dance necklace and fell utterly in love with it! It's super cute, and I think the vintage style heart charm absolutely makes this necklace!

Unless you buy something from her Ready to Ship section, all of the necklaces are made to order, so Cinders gets to work on your necklace after your purchase, it will mean it won't be the one you see in the photo, but it will be made just for you and will look just as lovely, even if there might be some slight differences, since the felt flowers are cut by hand.

I got my necklace super fast, and it came in a lil recycled cardboard box, with Cinders' hand stamped logo, that not only protects your necklace from being squished during shipping by not-so-careful postal workers, but also is ideal to store the necklace since it will make sure it won't collect any dust or be crushed by any other necklaces you might have in your jewellry drawer.

This necklace is meant to be worn as a choker, and it adapts to different neck sizes with the extender chain. It can be worn many ways, but I think it looks cuter if worn on one side of the neck!

If you're thinking you want one yourself, you're lucky! Cinders has a great promotion on her Etsy shop right now, if you spend over $20, you get a free Double Gerbera necklace! It's valid till Feb 14th and it's her way of saying Happy Valentine's Day to all her customers!

Lucky Again!: Winning Static White's Giveaway!

If there's something I have to concede, it's that I'm pretty lucky when it comes to giveaways! I've won quite a few of them!

The latest one was from the amazing Maya, the artist behind Static White Stitchery! She set up a giveaway on her blog to win a choice of either the Evil Flying Monkey or the Love Monkey ornament, and a goodie bag from Etsy Dark Side Team's sellers! And from all the entries, I was lucky enough to win it!

I chose an Evil Flying Monkey (quite fitting for my lil witchy self!) and within a week, a lovely package filled to the brim with all sort of goodies AND the super cute Flying Monkey ornament arrived!

As you can see, not only I got the Flying Monkey ornament, but also a big amount of goodies from members of the Etsy Dark Side Street Team! All sort of spooky & awesome bits & bobs!

Super cute Bat confeti

A super cute lil spider

And the Flying Monkey is pretty awesome in itself! I absolutely love it! It's so well made and look so evilly cute! I'm wondering now where to place it... maybe in the car? Or maybe in my room? Hmmm, choices, choices!

Now I know I really more of Maya's felt ornaments, probably a Maneki Neko kittie or/and a Blue Bird of Kookiness!

Who Can, Toucan! Mr Pond the Felt Me Up Designs Toucan!

You already know Mr Bempton, my beloved Puffin bird from the Felt Me Up Designs Etsy shop, The Felt Menagerie!

After getting him, I knew I needed to get him a friend, and thought that I'd ask for a custom toucan made at some point! Cause I've always thought toucans were super cute!

Well, low and behold, it happened that before I even thought of asking her to make me a custom toucan, she already got into making them! So, when she listed the first toucan, I just snatched it!

While I was waiting for my lovely felt toucan to arrive, I had to decide on a name for him, and while I was thinking, I looked at the title of the listing, where it said "Who can, You can, Toucan" and it just made me think of Doctor Who (probably cause I'm still thinking of the two part season finale) and Amy Pond's wedding, and I knew I was going to call my new felt friend, Mr Pond, just like Rory!

Mr Pond arrived this past Monday, and even before opening the box, I just HAD to take a pic of the package! It was so cute! Toucan Mail! And once I opened the package, not only I got my toucan, but also a super cute postcard and business card magnet!

As always, I'm flabbergasted at the amazing amount of detail that goes into this needle felt handmade birds! They simply are perfect! I just start taking pictures of them and can't seem to stop!

It's a good thing Mr Pond, though slightly self-conscious about his beak, being very silly about it, since it's probably his best feature along with his eyes, is a very patient model, and is adapting pretty well to his new home!

I also was slightly concerned about how would Mr Bempton and Mr Pond get along, but I needed not be concerned, cause even though if at first they were a bit wary of each other, probably a bit shy at first, but then they seem to have become pretty much best buddies!

Now I have a pair of very happy birds at home!

Camamiel: Dolls & Art!! Escarlatina the Nurse!

Hello there!

It's Monday again, and I'm working night shift, but I'm having a slightly lighter week than previous, getting a few more days off, so I'll have a bit more time to blog, and to have some more social life!

I've been a bit over-worked and a bit burnt out at work for the past few months, very much in need of vacation, and feeling like I really needed a break... And then, out of the blue, Deb from On Cupcake Moon linked me to an absolutely CUTE nurse felt doll she had seen in one of her favourite Etsy shops: Camamiel! And that she said, reminded her of me!

Camamiel's owner and artist behind the cuteness, Ana, actually lives in Madrid, the same province than I do! I was so surprised I hadn't found her shop, being local and all, in Etsy!

She has the cutest postcards, felt brooches and the most fabulous felt dolls I've ever seen! And one of them, is the cutest nurse you've ever see! Escarlatina is a super nice nurse, understanding and kind! And just reading her Etsy listing made me remember why I love being a nurse so much, and why my work is important!

So, I obviously had to buy Escarlatina, and bring her home with me! I still haven't taken her to work, cause we've been pretty busy as of late, and I'm not sure how good an idea would be bringing my little friend with me, but I still plan to, at some point!

When Escarlatina arrived (fastest shipping ever, of course, I'm more used to packages coming from overseas or Europe, not from Spain itself!) the package not only had a super cute label and stickers, but it was also super well protected, with hard cardboard, to ensure Escarlatina was well protected!

I also got a pair of pins I'll be adding to some of my bags, but also some lovely postcards featuring some other of Camamiel's lovely dolls and art!

Escarlatina was a lil shy at the beginning, but since we both have loads in common, we soon became good friends and she has also become very good friends with the other nurse doll I got as a graduation present from one of my best friends.

In this case, not only this lovely piece of felt art is very well made, but it also has a more deep emotional connection with me... this little lovely doll have helped me get over a bit of slump of burnt out at work, and reminded me of how much I love my job!

The Felt Menagerie by Felt Me Up Designs!

Summer is here, and so I'm feeling like staying up at night and sleeping in even more than usual, and I'm feeling a tad less motivated and not too full of energy. It's a good thing we've bought a new mobile AC unit, though I'm not sure if I'll use it at night or not...

As I promised yesterday, I'm back with a new blog entry today, and I have to say I discovered this artist & Etsy seller through one of my favourite ladies, Deb from OnCupcakeMoon! She entered a giveaway on Etsy Stalker and won, so she showed off her lovely lil Tweet by Felt Me Up Designs on her blog, and I loved it, so I decided to check their shop and liked their facebook page.

Shortly after that, Felt Me Up Designs did a giveaway on their blog, where you could win one of their lovely owlies! I of course entered the giveaway, and also when through their entire shop, and fell in love with Mr Bempton, the Puffin Bird! I didn't win the giveaway, but she also offered a discount code for free shipping, so I decided to take advantage of it, and decided to adopt Mr Bempton!

Since the mail service with the UK has been working pretty well as of late, I got Mr Bempton home super fast, and the packaging was super cute! All handmade felt birdies come inside a take out box with shredded paper, so they're warm & protected during their trip!

Mr Bempton taking a peek out of the box, and introducing himself, such a proper nice birdie!

Out of the box, evaluating his new home, he seems to like it! Hello, Mr Bempton!

Felt Me Up Designs Mini-Moo cards! I'm absolutely in love with them! I love those Moo mini-cards!

Mr Bempton really has an eye for detail! And is the cutest Puffin bird on history, and no, I don't say it cause it's now part of the family! ;)

I decided to bring him with Miss Cinnamon & me to the cottage this past weekend, and I'd say he rather enjoyed being out & hanging out with me.

He also liked exploring a bit the surroundings, I had no idea, but Mr Bempton is quite the explorer!

And of course, I decided to introduce Mr Bempton to Miss Cinnamon, and see if they got along.
Miss Cinnamon seemed to like Mr Bempton quite a long, and Mr Bempton even if a little shy and intimidated at first, liked Miss Cinnamon, as much as any birdie can like a doggie!

Cinnamon, you don't go smelling other people's bum like that, bad doggie!

After that lil etiquette blunder, Miss Cinnamon behaved herself, and Mr Bempton recover his dignity, and now they do keep a civil relationship!

I'm already thinking of adding another Birdie to the family, maybe a custom made Toucan? Or maybe an Owlie? What new birdie would you add to the family?
