Wearing Handmade Wednesday: Cielo Design by Miriam Shimon!

Hello everyone!

I think  it's been quite a while since I'm done one of these, but despite the photographs not being up to par to what any amateur photographer worth their while should be using, I wanted to share something for Wearing Handmade Wednesday!

Okay, so today I was playing around with one of my sarees (I've decided that practice makes perfect, so I need to keep on practicing till I can wear a saree properly with my eyes closed!) and decided to get a pic taken wearing one of the most amazing finds and purchases as of late from Etsy. I bought two amazing southache pendants from Cielo Design by Miriam Shimon, and since you can't really see it too well in the above photo here's another one so you can go all "aaaah, oooohhh" on it!

Ain't it gorgeous? It's got the desi vibe, but not being your typical Indian thing, so wearing it with a saree gives the whole attire a very "me" feel!

Wearing Handmade Wednesday: Radically Riley's Artisan Jewelry!

Once again, this Wearing Handmade Wednesday is a look back into the past! But looking back at old photos has made me realize, I've missed showing off some really nice stuff here!

I got this gorgeous wristwatch for Deeksha, Gaurav's sister a few years ago from Radically Riley's Artisan Jewelry on Etsy, and it was a hit! It's a gorgeous watch, and it looked amazing with her outfit for the Indian wedding we attended! ;)

Do Bats Eat Cats?!

Friday is here once again, and this time it means a weekend at work for me. At least I work night shift Friday & Sunday, which means that at least I get Saturday off!


Since today is the start of the weekend, I wanna share a special shop with you all, one to find something unique to complete your going-out-to-party ensemble!


I found Darlene's shop when she joined the Attack of the Craft forum, and I was quite amazed at her chainmaille jewellry seeing as by the word chainmaille, all the mental images I conjured where Middle Ages and or Lord Of The Rings armor related! And of course, something else that drew me to her shop was the name, right out of my beloved Alice: "Do cats eat bats?, Do bats eat cats?"




So, taking advantage of a sale she offered, I got myself a chainmaille ornament in silver and teal, in the shape of a Celtic star. Absolutely gorgeous! Once I got it I just couldn't stop turning it around in my hand and marveling at how intricate the work is. Seeing them in person really helps you see the amount of work involved in these pieces!






Right now I have my eye on one of her necklaces and a zipper pull, both with Celtic stars designs, you could say I'm quite fond of said design! ;) DO check her shop and you'll understand why!

Illustrated Ink!!

Christmas/Holidays is now officially over in Spain too, we've got our presents yesterday on the 6th, overindulged in Roscón de Reyes (if you have no idea what it is, here's what wikipedia says about it) and now it's time to take the decorations down, the lights off the streets, and start thinking about the plans for the New Year!


I have a few entries I should have done before, but between the holidays in India with G, the 5 days stuck in London, I have a bit of a backlog of posts, but I'll be catching up on the coming weeks!


Today, I'm gonna be giving the spotlight to the very awesome & talented Leila from Illustrated Ink! For my regular readers the name might sound familiar, cause I've already featured some brilliant custom work she did for me to give as gifts here.


Leila is a full time artist, that paints lovely originals, draw wonderful illustrations, and gives new lives to ugly old vintage pieces she finds, all in her unique mix of Day of the Dead and Old School tattoo style!


After loving the pieces she created for my friends, I knew I needed to get some her art for myself, so after much pondering and trying to choose (her Etsy shop is filled with loads of amazing pieces, from prints, to painted wall decorations, to some pull toys, to paper dolls... all sort of wonderful things!) I decided to go for two of her prints: the Day of the Dead Siempre cat print and the Day of the Dead Amigos dog print, not only cause they're perfect for any animal lover but also because she donates part of the profit from those prints to the Humane Society! And to complete my order, I went for one of her unique Vintage Style lockets, with her Day of the Dead Hello Kitty illustration! Truly a wonderful piece!





Both the prints have really vivid colours, and I'll be sure to frame & hang them once I get a place of my own!






I'm completely in love with the locket! As I'm sure many of you know I'm a huge Hello Kitty lover, and this necklace just combines that with my love for handmade, so it's a total win-win! And the size of the locket is perfect for my taste too! Not too big, but also not too small, and you can clearly see the image since it's enclosed in a dome that magnifies the image!















Leila also sent me a few postcards with some of her art, including one with the Day of the Dead Hello Kitty, and the colours are just fantastic! So alive and vibrant!

Hollyrocks!!

Hello there! Happy Friday!


Happier for me, as since after working the last two weekends on a row, I'm having a long weekend, and enjoying Friday, Saturday & Sunday off!


Today, I'm gonna be celebrating my friend's Pilu b-day with her, having sushi for lunch, and she's getting a good few handmade pressies too! So, to celebrate this rocking Friday, I'm featuring the talented & lovely Holly from Hollyrocks!


I met Holly through her Hollyrocks blog, where she shares her lovely handmade creations, her stories about squirrels, her work and her loves! From there, it was only logical that I'd check her Etsy shop, fell in love with loads of goodies, and eventually ended up buying something!


I decided that my first purchase had to be her Spiral Heart pendant, not only cause it's gorgeous but also cause it belongs to a series of listings from different sellers (Etsy Project Embrace) from which the funds go to the American Cancer Society, and since I work as an Oncology RN, I thought it was a great idea for a very worthy cause.



Holly sent me not only my wonderful pendant, but two gorgeous extras! The original pendant is in pink, so it'd be a great purchase and present this month since pink is the colour of October, to remind us of the fight against breast cancer. And she added a purple and a deep red ones!





She packed everything so lovely, I felt I was getting a proper present! And not only she included the two pendants, but also added a lil handmade magnet with her shop name, so cute!











I'm so in love with all the pendants! I'm trying to decide which one to keep and which ones to give as gifts, but I just can't decide! Maybe I should keep them all? But I really shouldn't be greedy, and share the gifts I get! Oh well...




I do plan on getting some more goodies for Holly's shop, since I'm in love with her Fall Leaf pendants, the red one is my favourite and also her I Caught A Star necklace!

Wearing Handmade Wednesday!: Pet Zombie Creations!

This week, I'm showing off one of the many amazing necklaces I own, made by the amazing Destry of Pet Zombie Creations! Not only she has one of the coolest names in existence, but she's also amazingly talented! She makes all sort of amazing necklaces, from polymer clay, or metal, and she's been featured showing off some other of her necklaces here!

Candied Strands!

Happy Friday everyone!


Back onto the blogging routine again, and with some nice photos taken by my personal photographer, so I'm now catching up with some entries that have been in the wait list for a while!


I met Nicole, the artist behind Candied Strands through the Attack of the Craft forums (as many others before!) and I absolutely fell in love with her submission for the CraftAnon Etsy Street Team Mythology themed monthly challenge, the Artemis necklace & earrings set!


Taking advantage of one of the TNT (Thursday Night Temptation) weekly sales I snatched it and quite quickly for flying across the pond, it got home in a week!


I love the presentation of it, jewellry always looks so nice inside nice-looking neat boxes! And the colours of the beads and the amazing lovely detail of the pentacle is absolutely great! As the bf says, it looks lovely and cute with a lil hidden darker side, just like myself!














And it has the perfect length to hide but at the same time enhance any cleavage! ;)

Glamasaurus!!

I've already told you about the awesomeness that fills to the brim Andreanna's shop, Glamasaurus, since I won a gift certificate to her shop, but this time, I just have to share the new goodies that I got from her shop!


When I first saw the Skeletina Antique Ring & Bobby pins, I fell in love with them, but I was a bit slow on the actually deciding to grab then, so someone else got them, and I was left waiting for Andreanna to get more supplies to relist them! She was really nice and tipped me on facebook on when was gonna list them, and after the wait, I was pretty sure I wanted them, so I snatched them as soon as they were back on her Etsy shop!


Getting a Glamasaurus package in the mail is always awesome, cause it's so nicely presented that you feel like you're getting a proper gift!




This time the postal workers were a lil less careful, and my package was a lil crumpled, but since everything inside is super well protected, everything arrived in perfect condition!!




A super cute detail, along with her business cards (I like getting extra business cards, so I can give them away to people when asked about my stuff) was a scratch card! I love that idea! You give your clients discounts and something a lil special in a fun way!




I also got a few lil extras, super cute bobby pins, that I'll be gifting to G's nieces in the US, I'm sure they'll look super cute on them!




And now onto my amazing Skeletina items!






The gorgeous ring: it's quite light, which I like, and it's the right size to be noticeable, without being a "conversation piece" (translation = HUGE). And it's a sturdy & durable! I really love it, and I've never been much of a ring person, this one is actually the second ring I own! And I plan to wear it only on special occasions.




The best part, it's adjustable, so I can wear it in all fingers, except the pinky!




The bobby pins: Again, they're light but sturdy and durable, and they're perfect to adding some style to my now shorter hair, and they don't fall off the hair easily either.





As I've already said, I'm quite the happy puppy with my Glamasaurus order!

Ever Designs!!

Last Sunday I finally went to see Eclipse, the third Twilight movie, and I have to say I liked it a lot! I had waited a bit cause I wanted to avoid the crowds, and the screaming teenager Twi-hards... For New Moon I went on Saturday evening of release week, and it was too crowded for my taste AND there were too many screaming teenagers for my taste... But this time, luckily I avoided all that!


And curiously enough, on Monday itself I got my new gorgeous bracelet from Ever Designs! You might be wondering why I might think that curious. Well, Noriane, Ever Designs' owner & designer is also a Twilight fan, and she has created many amazing jewellry pieces inspired in the Twilight books, and I own quite a few of them from when Noriane sold in Etsy under the name "Noriane's Bijoux: Twilight Impressions".


Noriane stopped selling on Etsy after some issues with Summit Entertainment, apparently they don't like artists being inspired by Twilight, and she now has her own website, with the new name, and has some new brilliant pieces, but also all the old favourites!


The bracelet that arrived on Monday is one of the new designs, the Aqua Violet Bouquet bracelet, and it's as gorgeous as I've grown used to expect from Noriane's jewellry!






Not only her jewellry is amazing, but also, her packages are always a treat, all jewellry in satin black pouches, and this time, I even got a gorgeous sun catcher and a microfiber cloth to clean my jewellry!










She's now added a new bracelet to her collection, the Purple Dream bracelet, that I will be adding to my collection (I own quite a few of hers) for my birthday, that she first made as a custom for a friend of mine. And that you can see here!
