Tell Me Tuesdays #1!

Welcome to my first time joining Tell Me Tuesdays!

Tell Me Tuesdays is a meme/feature created by the awesome ladies of Please Feed The Bookworm and La La In The Library where we can share how we choose the book we are currently reading from our TBR pile!
I'm always curious about that, cause as much as I tend to make myself a rough schedule for books to read and the like, I'm quite a mood reader and sometimes I just HAVE to ignore my schedule and read something else!

The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin!

A bizarre chain of events begins when sixteen unlikely people gather for the reading of Samuel W. Westing's will. And though no one knows why the eccentric, game-loving millionaire has chosen a virtual stranger - and a possible murderer - to inherit his vast fortune, one things' for sure: Sam Westing may be dead... but that won't stop him from playing one last game!

The Westing Game is June's book at The Midnight Garden's Classics readalong. I decided to pick it up yesterday cause I was having a rather stupidly brought upon emotional meltdown (the weirdest things can trigger me nowadays it seems) and I wasn't feeling like any of the books that I was supposed to be reading, and I wanted something without romance and I thought "I know! Let's start a middle grade classic murder mystery!" and so far it's proving a very good choice!

So what are you all guys reading and how and why did you decide to pick up that book? Shiny new ARC? Comfort read? Scheduled for review? Must have new release? Tell me!!

  1. Thank-you for joining us!! I started reading the Westing Game when my son was reading it in middle school after picking it up from his bedroom floor. I didn't have time to finish it because it was in the middle of moving and it was packed and never unpacked. I should get it from the library and finish it. :)

    1. I wanted to have a feature/meme to join on Tuesdays when I didn't have any blog tours scheduled (Tuesdays is my day for tours & blitzes) and I really liked this idea to see how people choose their books!

  2. Oh no! Sorry to hear you were in the midst of an emotional meltdown yesterday Pili! I hope you're feeling better today and I'm glad this MG murder mystery is helping to take your mind off things. I look forward to your review of this one:):)

  3. I really do need to join a read-a-long one of these days. I've never done one but have always wanted to. I'm reading Fiendish by Brenna Yovonoff right now and I picked it because it's what my schedule said to read. LOL not very exciting! I hope you enjoy The Westing Game!

    1. I've done a pair of read-alongs with other bloggers, but a monthly one is ideal cause you can read the book whenever it's more convenient for you and then discuss it on the assigned day!
Ooooh, I cannot wait to see what you think of Fiendish!

  4. Yesterday I started the novella The Staff of Serapis by Rick Riordan. Why? Because my other current read was so incredibly cheesy I felt like was painfully going along with it. I needed a break, I needed something fun and something I knew I would absolutely love! Rick is my go to guy when I'm looking for something like that :)

Anyway, I FINALLY finished my super cheesy, made-me-roll-my-eyes-too-much book, Lost in Starlight. That one I started reading because it was an ARC and the book just sounded super fun... Wasn't what I expected though =/

What a fun feature, by the way! :)

    1. Yeah, sometimes we need a break from a book that isn't working for us! Sorry to hear the ARC wasn't that good...
Isn't it a fun feature?? I love chatting about books!

  6. I don't use to read this kind of book, but it sounds really cool!
I'm about to start Heir of fire, I'm trying to remember everything I can about Crown of mindnight, because it's been a while and my memory is a mess.
Hope you enjoy what you're reading today (I bet you already finished this one)

  7. Oh this is a fun post idea! I just picked up a book from BEA mostly at random. I wanted one I was highly anticipating and I was ahead in my reading so I could read one for further back, and I chose Belzhar. So far it's intriguing but I'm still at the start. I also should try a read-along one day.

    1. Treat reads are the best! Since I'm in a bit of a meh moment after the Ruin & Rising hangover... I'm gonna be giving myself a treat read and read an ARC that I'm not supposed to be reading yet! ;)

  8. I think that The Westing Game was by far one of my favourite novels when I was a teen! I can't remember what grade we read it, but I loved it then, and now I need to read it again! Right now, I took a break from reviewing and actually started reading a pregnancy book O.o it's a treat haha

  9. Ooh, I will need to read Westing Game as well. I didn't know it was a MG murder story! It sounds fantastic and would love to check it out. Definitely need something less drama-heavy as well.

  11. Yesterday I picked up Half a World Away. I snagged the e-arc a while ago and after DNFing the arc (you know which one) because I couldn't stand it, I needed something else to read (an arc preferably since I am already drowning in them) so I decided to pick up the MG I've been dying to read :D

It was so worth it, Pili. It was just so sweet and heartwarming and gave me the mushy feels. :)

  13. I don't think I've ever read The Westing Game . . . or even heard of it . . . I feel like this is something I shouldn't be admitting, LOL. Maybe I'm just confused. Yes, I sure that's it . . . *shifty eyes* Oh well, I'll be sure to check it out now, regardless. I'm rereading On the Edge by Ilona Andrews b/c I am in a monstrous book funk, and if anything can beat a book funk, it's Ilona ;)

Comfort reads are the best to get you out of a funk! Is it still the Ruin & Rising hangover?
