This year I'm very happy to once again join in the Top 10 of 2014 week hosted by Rachel from Reading YA Rocks, Jamie from Two Chicks On Books, Mindy from Magical Urban Fantasy Reads and Nancy of Tales of A Ravenous Reader.
We're gonna start the week right, with our Top 10 Best Books we've read this year. They don't have to have been published this year, but they must have been read this year.
Since there have been so many books and choosing just 10 is gonna be tough, I decided to list here only those that weren't debuts, and then on Wednesday I'll share my Top 10 Debuts of 2014, so I'll have another 10 awesome books that I loved this year.
Best Books I've Read in 2014.
This is one very very tough list to make because I've read so many books I've loved! I might have to add some honorable mentions after the Top 10. And I will be listing the books in the order that I read them throughout the year. I've limited myself to books read & published in 2014.
And now the honorary mentions because damn it, I cannot choose just ten when I've loved so many books this year! Red Rising by Pierce Brown, The Body Electric by Beth Revis, Uninvited by Sophie Jordan, Athenas's Ashes by Jamie Grey, Ruin & Rising by Leigh Bardugo, Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor, Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins, The Rephaim trilogy by Paula Weston, Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers, Sweet Reckoning by Wendy Higgins, Avalon by Mindee Arnett and First World Problems by LeighAnn Kopans.
I had a difficult time narrowing my list down to only ten titles too, although I see you went the honorable mention route, can't say that I blame ya. I haven't read Blue Lily, Lily Blue yet, but I'm really hoping to get to it sooner rather than later in 2015, especially seeing how it landed on your year end best books.
ReplyDeleteCarmel @ Rabid Reads
Yeah, I went choosing books from my read list and I was all "damn, these are way more than ten!!" so I decided to be tricky and go with honorable mentions! ;)
DeleteAnd yes Carmel, I highly recommend you continue the Raven Cycle! And the last book comes out in 2015 so you can even binge read the rest of the series! ;)
HEIR OF FIRE!!!! Yessssss. I absolutely loved that one as well Pili, and I need the next book in my hands immediately. OR A Court of Thorns and Roses. I'd take that as a temporary substitute:) I need to read the AG Howard series for sure, I've only read positive things about that one!
ReplyDeleteYESSS!! I need book 4 NOW!! And also ACOTAR because I've heard so many amazing things about it already!!
DeleteAnd yes Jenny, I do highly recommend the Splintered trilogy!!
Wow I haven't read any of these although I own half of them lol.... I really need to get reading~ Great list!! I just know I'm going to love these books when I start them :D
ReplyDeleteThem you are in for a treat Eileen!! And you must tweet me all the feels once you read them! ;)
DeleteUnhinged!!!! I am going to be borrowing The Girl With All the Gifts from the library and I won Blue Lily, Lily Blue, so I will have to borrow the first two from the library as well. I can hardly wait to see what your debut picks are!
ReplyDeleteYESSS!! Read them all La La!! =D And tell me what you think of them!!
DeleteI read The Winner's Curse in 2013, but I read Unhinged in 2014 and LOVED it. Deliverance, The Shape of My Heart, Heir of Fire were excellent as well. I'll have to bookmark this list for Pili Pushed books - for the five I have not yet read.
ReplyDeleteAlyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Yessss!! Do the same with the debuts one if there's any you haven't read! ;)
DeleteSo many great books!! I really have a love/hate relationship with these posts. How will I ever have time to read ALLL the books!!
ReplyDeleteI knooooow!! The ever-growing TBR pile!!
DeleteMarissa Meyer's series is high on my to-read list! I am determined to get a start on it next year!! I also still need to read Unhinged, but I haven't 'cause I heard there was a huge cliffhanger at the end. Well, I'm glad January is nearing because now I can read it and Ensnared back to back! :D Yay! And I am also happy to see Mortal Gods make your list! That is another series I need to get a start on, and my mythology reading challenge will definitely give me the incentive! I'm very excited to start that series!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great list Pili! I will definitely need to check out some of these other books!
Unhinged DID HAVE an awful cliffhanger so it was not a bad idea for you to wait till Ensnared comes out, not long now!
DeleteAnd YESS the Goddess War series is PERFECT for the Mythology challenge and it'll be complete in 2015!!
Heir of Fire!! I only allowed myself to add one book from a series on my list, so I didn't include that one (I chose Crown of Midnight instead). I still haven't read The Forever Song or started the Splintered series, but I definitely want to get to them in 2015!
ReplyDeleteI hope you do read The Forever Song and you can binge read the Splintered series next year, cause the final book comes out in Jan, Kaitlin!!
DeleteYay :D Amazing post Pili. <3 Sigh. So many amazing books. I loved a whole lot of these too :D CRESS. <3 The Winner's Curse :D BLLB <3 So so much love. I'm glad you loved so many books :) And I hope you will read and love even more next year. <3 thank you for sharing sweetie :)
ReplyDeleteLoving books you read is one of the best feelings everrr! I hope you'll love loads of book next year too sweetie!!
DeleteYou read so many amazing books this year! I had a hard time putting together a top 14 (although there were a few stand outs), so a top 10 would have killed me! The Winner's Curse & The Forever Song were SO CLOSE to being on my list because they were amazing! Uninvited, Ruin & Rising and Isla would also have been on my list too. It's so hard to narrow down the best books.
ReplyDeleteGreat list, Pili! :D
Yeah, a top 10 is nuts, that's what the honorary mentions are for! Also, I made a different post for top 10 debuts, so I added even more books there!
DeleteThank you Samantha!!
