Thankful Thursday: Being able to gift my friends

Hello everyone!

Again, I almost forget about Thankful Thursday before Thursday is over!

Today I want to be thankful for being able to give gifts to other, nevermind of the value of the gift, but being able to give something to other people and see a smile on their face.

Yesterday I gave my friend Irene a saree for her birthday and I just had such a blast draping it on her and seeing how happy her face was!

Shopping Handmade: Pilu's birthday, or how to buy handmade for a nurse!

Hey there! Today is Friday, and I've decided to bring back an old feature of mine, called Shopping Handmade, where I show off what handmade goodies I've bought as gifts for people, and how much they love them!

For today is the early gifts for Pilu's b-day, since I'm actually leaving for India on her b-day, and I have the days after today quite super busy! So after working night shift, I've met up with her and Esther, and I've ended up feeling like a hobbit! Wonder why?, not size related!, but I had breakfast (with Esther) and then I had second breakfast! (with Pilu). Somehow I managed to miss Elevensies there tho...

Let's start with the showing off!

As Pilu is in love with Zombie Pirate, I knew I had to get her a RockyTheZombie tee, and the new "Pirates in a Boat" print was too awesome to pass up, so I got her that one, and she is completely in love!!

Next, Pilu finally got her mini-Pilu from Camamiel, and now she's the proud owner of a nurse doll, wonderfully crafted, that looks like her, and even has a mini-Indy!!





Both mini-Pilu and mini-Indy are too cute for words! And Pilu is now super happy cause she finally has her Camamiel alter-go! Working with Ana from Camamiel is always a joy, and even more when I know her creations are gonna be loved and cherished, like all the nurse dolls I've gifted so far have been!

Ana was so nice to even send me a postcard of a photo of mini-Pilu & mini-Indy as a happy b-day card for Pilu, and she loved it!!

And last, but clearly not least, Catalepsia, a nurse paper doll, also from Camamiel! Pilu was trying to decide if she's gonna get her to decorate her car, her locker at work, or her reading room at home!

Now, it's time for me to take a lil nap, and then decide what bag to take as my carry-on luggage this time! Have a great Friday!

Friday Feature: Bewhiskered!!

Friday is here! And I'm pretty excited cause I have half the weekend off, and tomorrow I have a meet up with all my friends from uni, which is quite an unique event that only happens like once a year or so!

And to celebrate Friday with a new Friday Feature I wanna share a shop that you'll love if you have any kids in the family: Bewhiskered!

I met Kenzie, the amazing lady behind Bewhiskered's Ruggles through the AOTC forums (the place to meet amazing crafters & designers) and that's how I discovered her shop and all her amazing animal blankies for the kiddos, that she calls Ruggles. You can find all sorts of animals, made out of all sorts of fabrics (and not real fur), from dragons to froggies with anything you can imagine from the animal kingdom! She also makes customs, so if you want a bumblebee ruggle instead of any of the ruggles she has in her shop, you'll be sure to get yourself one.

I knew I needed to get one for G's nephew, RD, and since he loves Jungle Book and tigers and wild animals, I knew the Tiger Ruggle would be ideal for him! She even embroidered his name in the tummy of the tiger, making it even more personalized!

When I got the tiger ruggle I fell in love with the packaging! It even came with a birth certificate of authenticity! It's not likely the kid will notice or care much about either, but the parents will surely comment on it, my SIL did!

All RD cared about was the tiger he now had in his hands, he started saying "Shere Khan, Shere Khan!" and roaring around!

RD sure liked his lil tiger ruggle, and I'm sure any kiddo that you'd have in the family would too! Even as a grown up, I wouldn't be adverse to one, and I keep on eying the giant Ruggle listing she has in her shop for the day when I have my own place!

Shopping Handmade: Reyes with Irene

Hey there!


You must be wondering... where are last week's Sunday Shots? Well, they're... in process, in a bit of an unusual turn, I'm the one totally uninspired for them, and Gaurav actually delivered his in time. So while I'm trying to get inspired for last week's and this week shots, I'm gonna write a blog entry that belonged to last month!


I actually had to check, cause I thought I should have been written at the beginning of last month, since I met up with my friend Irene for our exchange of Reyes gifts on the first week of Jan! In most of Spain, Santa Claus is more of a late comer, and gifts have always been given on the morning of Jan 6th, which according to lore is when the Three Magi, Wise Men or Reyes Magos as we call them, presented the baby Jesus with the incense, gold & myrrh.


Well, long story short, we met up for lunch at Vip's, had quite a yummy lunch, I tried the very awesome Toblerone cheesecake and we exchanged gifts!





I got Irene addicted to Dolly bags, and she has quite a loooong list of bags she wants to get, so I usually get her one for either/both Reyes and her b-day. And this year I got her a Ruffle purse, a Sofia cosmetic bag (super roomy) and an eye-glass case, all matching!







And she got me one of the many books available about Hypatia of Alexandria (I have been wanting to read about her for quite a while) and super cute handmade felt Hello Kitty pin that I wore right away!




Hopefully I'll have more blog entries ready this week, cross your fingers for some extra motivation coming my way!

Shopping Handmade: Pilu's Birthday

Hello there!


Going back to work today was such a release! I had a MUCH better shift which means I arrived home earlier, I could park better and I'm not as tired, which in turn allows me to blog before going to sleep early, since tomorrow I work morning shift (my last day at work before my holidays, yay!).


Today's morning I met up with one of my best friends since Nursing School. for a coffee and some b-day presents swapping! We hadn't seen each other since before my b-day and I wanted to make sure that even if I'm gonna miss her b-day, cause I'll be in the US, she didn't have to wait till November to get them!


Pilu and me were nicknamed "Siamese sisters" during nursing school by our friends, cause we have sooooo many things in common, and we both are dark haired, dark eyes and we both have curls, and also share our two first names!


As with many things, we started reading and getting hooked to Twilight without telling each other about it, or even recommending it, but when we found we had both got hooked to the books, we started talking about them and planning going to see New Moon together!


One of the many times we met, for lunch & a movie, or for window (and real) shopping & coffee, I was wearing a pair of my Noriane's Bijoux pieces, and she fell in love with my Midnight Sun pendant, so I quickly made a mental note to get her one for her b-day, and I also got the idea of getting her a custom (and unique) matching bracelet. Noriane not only was happy to oblige but also managed to make such a fantastic piece that Pilu is very lucky that I like her as much as I do and I decided to give to her and not keep for myself!








I also knew that she would totally love the very cute Kukubee Twilight pouches, and I decided to get her the Lion & Lamb set of mini pouches, so I would put each of the jewellery pieces in each one of the pouches! It would serve as a sort of gift wrapping within the gift wrapping!








So, this morning during coffee we did the gift swapping, and she absolutely LOVED both the very cute pouches, and was absolutely thrilled by the fact that she got a pendant like mine and even more about the unique custom bracelet that matched it!





Wondering what I got? An awesome green leather (or pleather, I'm no sure) jacket we both had seen (and loved) on one of out previous shopping trips! ;)

Isla New York Designs!

Monday OFF!!


It's been such a loooong week this past one... Since I started working on Tuesday, I've barely been doing anything other than work and sleep, since things at work have been pretty crazy!


But I'm now getting ready to finish my packing and get ready to fly next Thursday to the US, again! So, between the crazy work times and the packing I've been completely lacking on inspiration. That has pushed the Sunday Shots into a combined entry for both past week and this current week, that will hopefully be posted this Sunday!


So, after feeling terribly guilty about how often my fellow blogger Brooke at Brooke Van Gory updates her blog and after reading about Amber from RockerByeBaby setting up herself to update more regularly her own blog, so I decided that I should tackle at least a pair of blog entries!


I'm gonna start the week with my entry about Isla New York Clothing line and her amazing designer and creator, Regina!


For a change, I didn't find her shop, but it was my boyfriend who linked me to her Maria top, and told me that I needed to get it, not only cause we have the same name, but also cause he was sure it'll look great on me (are you thinking I'm such a lucky one cause I have a bf that looks around Etsy and finds clothing for me to buy? I sure am, and you don't know half of it!) ;)


I added the Maria top to my favourites on Etsy, and found that were other lovely tops in her shop, so not only I got myself the lovely Maria top in yellow (even if I've never been a yellow fan) but I also bought an Oly top in coral for my sis-in-law's b-day!




Regina kept me up to date via twitter and Etsy convo on the progress on both orders, and made sure that I would be getting the top in time for my sis-in-law's b-day! Communication is huge on her list, as is making sure every and each one of her creations is made with love and attention to detail.


My sis-in-law loved her Oly top, and has been wearing it a lot all the summer, too bad I have no pics to show you, but I do have some shots of my trip to Wisconsin this summer wearing my Maria top, that both Divya and Deeksha (Gaurav's sisters) loved to bits! (There might be a Isla New York top on their future, hmmm).


We went on a trip to Madison and spent most of the afternoon by the lake, and it was absolutely gorgeous and it was a great time to take some pics and show off my lovely new summer top!
