Grim Reaper Week: Seventh Grave And No Body by Darynda Jones - An Excerpt!!

Happy Halloween everyone!!

To continue with our celebration of the Charley Davidson series and Grim Reaper Week we're sharing two excerpts today, one right here and one on Emma's blog: Never Judge a Book by the Cover! So be sure to check out both our blogs and do not forget to enter the giveaway for a copy of Seventh Grave And No Body!

"When I stepped past the threshold of our room, our beds still butted up against each other, since he’d taken the wall separating our rooms out a couple of weeks ago, I was struck by the picture that met me. Reyes lay across both beds, propped up on several pillows, shirtless with only his dark lounge pants, his legs stretched out in front of him, his feet bare, a drink in one hand, and a book in the other. It was like one of those “at home” photos with models that looked like movie stars.

I almost came at the sight. It was the sexiest thing I’d ever seen. And I’d seen a lot of sexy lately. Would I ever get used to just having him? To just being able to look upon him and know he was mine? Know that I didn’t have to share him unless I got really kinky as I got older and decided to get into threesomes. But I couldn’t imagine ever wanting to share the man before me. I got jealous of his talking to a departed woman today. Granted, she was a gorgeous departed woman.

“Be still my Betty White,” I said softly.
“What?” he asked without looking up, one corner of his mouth lifting playfully.

I walked forward and stopped at the edge of the bed. “You. Reading. That is probably the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen a man do.”

His mouth widened and he finally looked up at me, closing the book in his hand and setting it aside. “Clearly you’ve never seen me pole dance.”

I have to agree with Charley, I'm not sure I can think of a sexiest sight than Reyes Farley, half naked AND reading!! *fans self*

I cannot wait till Emma and I can start our Seventh Grave readalong!

Happy Halloween/Samhain again!

Post Halloween Monday Munchies: Chicken Brochettes

Hello everyone!

Happy (belated) Halloween!! Halloween has to be my favourite holiday of the year, but since this year I was in Spain and at work, I didn't really get to celebrate it much. I had planned to have a blog entry with Halloween cupcakes, but I didn't manage to make them, so I'm just gonna share another yummy recipe and show off my Halloween ornaments by the very talented Ana, from Camamiel!

And now, onto the recipe. Like the Sweet & Sour Chicken, this recipe is from the Cocina Fácil (Easy Cooking) magazine, and has become one of my favourite comfort foods!

Chicken Brochettes
Serves 4

Ingredients:

- 3/4 kg chicken breasts.
- 100 ml soy sauce.
- 100 ml honey.
- Toasted sesame seeds.
- Olive oil.
- Salt & pepper

Method:

  1. Clean the chicken and cut into bite sized cubes, salt & pepper to taste and reserve in a big bowl.
  2. Whisk the soy sauce and honey with a lil water. Pour the marinade over the chicken, cover with cling film and chill in the fridge for at least an hour, more if possible. Then drain the chicken cubes and fry them on a pan with olive oil.
  3. Pour sesame seeds in a bowl and dip the chicken pieces in them as you take them off the frying pan.
  4. Now it's the time to make the brochettes, put about 5 pieces of chicken on each wood/bamboo skewer, alternatively you can leave the chicken pieces as they are.
  5. Pour the marinade in another pan on medium heat, and stir till it becomes syrup-like, then pour it over the chicken pieces or the brochettes.
  6. Serve hot, don't be over eager and burn yourself, and ENJOY!

Wearing Handmade Wednesday: Camamiel!!

One more week Wednesday creeps up, and with it so does Wearing Handmade Wednesday!

This week it'll be a lil Halloween themed, since Halloween itself is this Sunday. This year I won't be celebrating it, since I'll be working night shift, but I have a few lil secret plans that I'll be sharing next Monday!

Well, you may say I'm not wearing them, but that's just a technicality! I am proudly displaying my collection of Camamiel felt dolls! All nurses, like yours truly! Escarlatina was the first one to arrive, and as of late she had been feeling a lil lonely when I was off to work, so when I saw the new nurse dolls that Ana had created: Cholera, the Vampire nurse & Influenza, the Zombie nurse; I knew they'd be the perfect friends for Escarlatina!

If you have fallen in love with this dolls, check out Ana's shop: Camamiel, more cute dolls, brooches, ornaments & more cuteness to be found there!

Happy Halloween!!

Hey guys! Happy Halloween!!

I hope you all lot are/have had a very fun Halloween! This was my first time to really celebrate Halloween since it's not celebrated in Spain, so though I've seen it many times in movies and all sort of TV shows, this was the first time I did have a Trick-or-Treat & dress up Halloween.

Me & G are house sitting right now for his sister, so we were in charge of handing out candy this year. We didn't have the foresight to plan much costume wise, so I managed to come up with a home-made witch costume, and Gaurav decided to skip it.

My witchy costume was pieced together with a brown dress G's sister had around, a witch hat, a pair of stripped longstockings I got from PoppysWickedGarden, two Halloween-y hair flowers I got from Mizu's Garden, a necklace from Headless Tess and my make up, base & veil by Pink Quartz Minerals & eye shadows by Orglamix.

I have to say I enjoyed giving out the candy and seeing the costumes the kids wore (I loved that some many kids had SW related costumes!) and even more the ones the parents wore! The weather was pretty cold though, so we didn't get as many trick or treaters as we were expecting, which leaves us with LOADS of candy left... even if we were giving handfuls of candy to every kid...

Halloween really IS my favourite holiday!

Black Kitten Accesories!

Finally! This blog entries of mine require not only that I first get the items and use them, and then write the blog, but also I need to take pics... I rarely use the listing pics, mainly because even the photographs the sellers use are amazing, they also are their intellectual property, and I'd also rather take my own.

I like taking photographs, and I'm slightly moving from the beginner stage to the obssesed amateur, and taking pictures of all the beautiful things I get is quite an amazing exercise for my photography. The lil problem of getting more involved into photography means I like to stand more behind the camera, and less in front of it. But, now with my shiny new gorillapod, I have a helping hand with the self-photography.

My delay with writing this blog entry has been caused exactly by the lack of proper pics to show off the adorable necklace I got from Mary from Black Kitten Accesories! But yesterday, I got an idea after taking pics for my Sunday shot, and even if the light & quality was not the best, Gaurav managed to edit them enough to be not-too-bad-to-be-used.

I met Mary through DIYScene, and got along with her great, although truth be told, who wouldn't!? She's a wonderful, talented crafter, and huge animal lover!

Her etsy shop, Black Kitten Accesories, offers a range of handmade accesories, like pendants, necklaces, earrings and bracelets, with a perfect mix of cute & creepy!

I got myself one of beautiful Anatomical Assylum necklaces, in my favourite colour, blue. She's offered them in a variety of colours, and hopefully she'll offer them again soon, cause they're absolutely lovely! They're polymer clay pendants, painted and glazed for a perfect sealed finish! It has the perfect size for a lil bit of showing off, but not too big for those like me, that aren't the kind to carry something the size of my head from my neck...

Here you can see me wearing it, and you can see it is the perfect size for a pendant!

Make to stop by Black Kitten's shop, since she's offering a 75% off on her SALE section!

And stay tuned for more blog entries some time this week!
