First Chapter, First Paragraph #4: Forecast by Rinda Elliott!!

First Chapter, First Paragraph is one of the two memes that I will be alternating on Thursdays in place of my Ink & Batter posts during the summer, when I won't be baking due to the heat!

I discovered this meme via the ladies of My Shelf Confessions, and it is hosted on Tuesdays by Bibliophile by the Sea. But since I already have my blog tours posts and Tell Me Tuesdays, I thought that it'd work best on Thursdays for me!

The idea of this meme/feature is quite self-explanatory from its name, we share the first paragraph of the first chapter of our current read! Quite a good teaser for others to read and see if they'd be intrigued!

This week I'm sharing a teaser from an ARC I was lucky enough to get sent by the author and it's the sequel of a book I discovered thanks to Jenny from Supernatural Snark! Norse mythology for the win!

 Forecast by Rinda Elliott

"The boy's furious dark gaze locked with mine as the cop snapped the handcuffs on him. He stared hard at me for a moment before snarling over his shoulder. "Seriously? What's with the damned cuffs? You can't do that. I said I'll come!"

What do you think? Would you want to know more?
What are you reading right now?

  1. That's a great quote, but I'm burnt out from Norse mythology at the moment. It seems like every 2nd book I read features a Valkyrie or a thunder god. I'll keep this one in mind for when I'm ready to dive back in though. Thanks!

    1. Hmmm, I haven't seen that many around but I am a bit more out of touch with the adult paranormal/urban fantasy, any good recommendations Carmel??

  2. I really can't say much about the quote, unfortunately, as it doesn't really tell me anything, haha. But I always have a soft spot when it comes to Norse Mythology, largely because I've loved playing Valkyrie Profile when I was a kid. You play a Valkyrie as they scour the Earth looking for fallen souls willing to become soldiers for Odin. It was addictive, and I just knew I wanted more of those kick-ass females again.

    1. Yeah, I was so tempted to post more of the next paragraph to give a bit more of context but I didn't want to cheat too much on the meme!
I hadn't heard of Valkyrie Profile before but it sounds so cool!! =D

  3. YEAH PILI!!!! I'm so glad you're as into this series as I am, and I can't wait to talk all things Coral and Taran with you! I just have such fun with these books, and Norse mythology fascinates me so this series is an all around win. So ready for Kat's book now!

    1. YESSS!! I don't see Norse mythology that often and the way it is protrayed in this books is sooo cool!! =D
I'm super curious about Kat's book, because we knew a lil of Cora's through the phone calls to Raven but Kat? We barely know anything about her except that she's at Yellowstone!! O_o

  5. LOL that excerpt is so random and taken out of context but I love it. "Furious dark gaze" - I can totally picture that!

  6. Is it weird that I love it when someone gets arrested in books? Actually, I don't care if the person in question is getting arrested or doing the arresting. I just love the whole getting 'cuffed and mirandized scenario.<-----TRUE story, LOL. Great excerpt, Pili! I'll have to check this one out too ;)

    1. Well, it sounds a bit weird, but I also have weird likes about things happening in books and I do like seeing police work portrayed in books, so I'm not gonna be the pot calling the kettle black at all, Jessica!
I hope you check this one and the previous book too! ;)
