Wearing Handmade Wednesday: RockerByeBaby!!

Well, yes... Hello everyone! The blog is still alive, sort of!

My motivation for blogging has been rather off as of late, and with a two weeks improptu trip to India and then many days on a row working to return the days my co-workers covered for me... I just didn't have the energy!

I will try to be more constant on the blogging, but really, I can't promise anything, except that I'll try! (Sorry Yoda).

So, here is Wearing Handmade Wednesday!

The bf with his new RBB blankie!

Earlier this year, my boyfriend's dog, Max, died, and since Max loved sleeping on the bf's RockerByeBaby blankie, G thought that Max deserved to be cremated in that same blankie. Fast forward a few months, and G was saying that he needed a new RBB blankie to face the cold months ahead, and he asked for an extra big throw blanket size, and Amber being as awesome as she is, did it! The bf still says it's a bit small, but of course, he's huge! Truth be told, it is the perfect excuse for me to steal his blankie! ;)

RockerByeBaby is a shop mostly for babies and kids, but she also has a special listing for a throw blanket size, so adults can enjoy the awesomeness of their blankies!

That's all for today, but hopefully I'll return soon, sometime this week, maybe?

Wearing Handmade Wednesday is back once again!

RD is quite a lil ladies' man already!

This week I'm sharing a slightly old photo, but one that I adore! RD, G's nephew with his RockerByeBaby blanket!

RockerByeBaby is your shop for not only the most amazing blankets, but also beddings, skullies, tees and all sort of amazing things for babies! And not only for babies and toddlers, but also for adults! I own two of her amazing blankies, and so do G and his mum! If you have a baby coming, or are going to attend a baby shower, check her shop, and your present will be the most awesome of all!

Shopping Handmade: Irene's b-day & goodies for Rudra!

Hello there!

Wednesday has come and I've realized that once again I've neglected the blog for quite a few long days. Work really has been sucking me dry as of late, I'd say...

But here I am! It's been a while since I've done one of my Shopping Handmade features, so here is one!

Last Saturday my friend Irene celebrated her b-day, and as usual, work made it impossible for me to attend, so we met up the previous Sunday so we could chit chat and also I could give her her birthday presents! As always, I love buying handmade, and so I got her a Dolly bag and a super cute RockyTheZombie tee! And since I didn't have a b-day card at hand, I used a super cute gift tag from OnCupcakeMoon!

She absolutely loves both, and was super excited! So, you know people... Handmade gifts are super cool! ;)

An handmade gifts are no only super cool for grown ups, but also for kiddies! I love buying handmade gifts for Gaurav's nieces and nephew, and RockerByeBaby is one of my favourite shops for doing so! Here you can see Mr Cheeky Rudra, sporting his Walk the Plank RockerByeBaby tee!

Now, since today is a cool day, I'll go bake some more cupcakes, and I'll hopefully be back tomorrow!

Shopping Handmade: Adult Throw Size Blankie by RockerByeBaby

Hello there!

Have you ever had one of those days when you've barely sleep, but have managed to have a very productive day, and for some reason you're feeling full of energy?

Well, I'm having one of such days! I worked night shift last night, and after that I went to visit a friend of mine that works in a bank, to ask for help with my taxes. Got that done (yay!) and found out I'm getting a juicy tax return (YAY!!) that I'll be using to pay for my future new camera, the Olympus E-620!

Now after that, I arrived home around 10'30 am, keep in mind I had been awake since Tuesday at noon, and arrived home, got another potential brilliant piece of news, and then proceeded to take a nap, in the sofa, with my custom made, awfully brilliant RockerByeBaby blanket!

Only a two hour nap, and here I am, having written a review for the Two Girls And A Bar of Soap blog, watching some Doctor Who, setting up the details for my custom camera bag (that will be done by the very awesome Brooke from Crossbones Couture) and writing yet another review! That's what I call a productive day! ;)

If you've read my blog before, you surely have seen other reviews & entries about RockerByeBaby, but for babies stuff, so you'd be wondering why am I reviewing now MY blanket?

Well, after buying RockerByeBaby gear for Rudra, particularly two blankets, and feeling how amazingly soft and snuggly and warm they were, I got envious, and decided that I wanted one of my very own!

Amber offers also custom made, adult sized, throw blankets, so I contacted her and after choosing the print and minky fleece, I was on my way to waiting for my very own RockerByeBaby blankie!

It's truly glorious, soft, snuggly, warm and squishy! And it fits perfectly not only on my single sized bed, but also on my sofa! And it's also the perfect selfish blanket, cause it only fits one!

I'm completely in love with it, and I'm already planning on getting a bigger sized one, so I can share it with Gaurav! ;-)

If you too are envious of the awesomeness of the blankets for the babies, indulge yourself in a custom made one, and you'll love it as much as I do!

Shopping Handmade: Diaper Bag & Matching Blanket!

Long time no blog! At least not one about handmade goodies!

After quite some good use, the Dolly's diaper bag I got for Dee was ready to be retired for another one, and this time I decided I'd let Dee decide which fabric she'd what. And I asked Dolly if she could make the strap an adjustable one. She managed fabulously and made a lovely bag, that Dee and Ravi loved!

Shortly after ordering the bag, I saw in Amber's shop: RockerByeBaby, a lovely blanket in the very same fabric that Dee had chosen for her bag, and I thought, that it'd be a wonderful set if I could get not only the bag, but the blanket and a bib and burp cloth set! I asked Amber, and she was more than happy to make the set for me!

So, here you can see not only a very happy Dee & Ravi with their new diaper bag, but also a very happy baby Rudra, enjoying his newest blanket!

Keep tuned for some blogs coming next week, including the Sunday photos feature!

Shopping Handmade: Goodies for baby Rudra

I love shopping, as you can all guess, but not only shopping for myself, I love buying things for others, for b-day presents, or any other celebration, or for no official reason!

One thing I've discovered with Gaurav's lil nephew, Rudra, is that now that I'm older and have the money (and have discovered Etsy) I love buying handmade baby items! Gaurav jokes about how he'll have to drag me off the computer if we have kids in the future or I'll buy the whole baby section on Etsy!

After buying from a few Etsy sellers that offer their fantastic baby stuff, I really got upset about the CPSIA law that was going to be passed this past February, but got delayed for a year. I want to buy handmade baby stuff for my friends, family (and myself, in the future), and I don't want a law that should focus on plastic toys manufactured under dubious conditions by multinationals, hurt those artisans and crafters that work from their home, with a lot of care and dedication. But, I can't do much since I'm not in the US, except support the campaign for the amendment of the law.

When planning my visit to India this past February, I decided that I wanted to take a few things for baby Rudra, since I had been looking around Etsy when I were to buy something for when he was born, and I felt I wanted to get some more things. I started reviewing my favourites and also checking the Gift Guides, and settled for a few different things.

First of all, I contacted Amber from RockerByeBaby for a custom blanket in a similar fabric to the bib & burpcloth set I had got from her previously. We worked in a combined blanket of solid colour and Japanese panda print, with a glorious orange silky fleece layer, that it's the softers and silkiest thing everrrr! Amber is not only a rocking punk mama of two and owner & designer of the most amazing baby gear, from custom crib sets, to blankets, bibs, changing pads, and even travel pillows for the wee ones! but she also runs a blog with amazing weekly giveaways that you need to check!

The blanket is so absolutely soft and silky, that not only baby Rudra is in love with it, but also my sis-in-law is, as soon as she opened it, and felt the texture she was "I want one of these for myself too!". It's become the favourite blankie for taking Rudra out in the cool evenings! You can see it here in the stroller with their Dolly diaper bag, ready to come with us for dinner! And no, the baby was not under the bag or the blanket, he was getting ready for dinner out!

I was looking for some more usual prints for more bib & burp cloths sets, cause even if I love RockerByeBaby's sets, her prints are a pit punk-ish for my sis-in-law's tastes! After doing a few searches, I found a pair of suitable candidates, and decided to go for both!

First of, I found Teachermom's shop via the gift guides, where her Toss and Play Crazy ball was featured. After checking her profile, shop policies and feedback, I decided to get one of her sets. I showed Gaurav the two options I was thinking of, and he chose a fun Alexander Henry print. I was very lucky, cause I got a fantastic 4 piece set on sale, so I got a bib, burp cloth, a travel changing pad and a wipee & diaper bag for only $15! I got a fantastic set for half the price, so it was a total score!

My sis-in-law loved it! But the funny thing is that they ended up using the travel changing pad as a light blanket, for the warmer days!

I found Quiltish also on the Etsy baby gift guide, and fell in love with her cute fabrics, so after my usual reading around (profile, shop policies and feedback) I purchased a bib and burp cloth set with a really cute cars print! Allisa was really nice overall, with a fantastic communication, and her set was very much loved by everyone!

My last purchase was from The Groovy Mommy, and I found her through the Etsy search, looking for baby items, once again, not a very specific search. I saw her whole shop, did my informative reading, and decided to go for something different, her hooded towel & washie set! What makes her set even more special, it's a monogramed set! It was custom made in a pair of days, and it was here in a week. It was a real hit with my sis-in-law, cause it was monogramed with Rudra's nickname: RD. It has been used as a towel and as a blanket, and even as play thing!

If you're thinking of getting any sort of baby items, for family or friends, either for b-days or baby showers... you can choose any of these very talented ladies, or look for any other amazing ladies in Etsy!

RockerByeBaby!

Happy New Year 2009!

It's been a while since I last blogged, but with the whole Christmas, family meetings, and work, and last minute shopping... I really haven't had the energy or motivation to blog, but since today I've got some really cute pictures from the bf I can use for a blog entry, here I am!

Gaurav's sister Deeksha had her first baby, a boy called Rudra, in October. I wanted to get them something for the baby, but I really wasn't sure of what to get. I had already got Deeksha a Dolly diaper bag for her baby shower, but this time I wanted something more for the baby! I went browsing on Etsy (where else?) and found many great shops, but one left me a bit more impressed than the rest, mainly because it wasn't filled with the same cutesie fabrics than all the rest, but had some amazing rocking fabrics, with skullies, guitars and pirates! Also, the owner of the shop happened to be a member of DIYScene, the forums I frequent, so I also knew about her and her great products from there, so I marked RockerByeBaby as the shop to watch!

I showed it to the bf, and he agreed it was filled with unusual fabrics, and all the blankets, bib & burpie sets, crib sets, they even have travel neck support pillows! I only have the bf nephew and niece to buy for, but that's my shop for all baby goodies to buy!

I finally ended up getting a bib & burpie set with a really really cute Panda Japanese fabric, with Terry cloth for the backing. When they arrived home I was so impressed, so well made, so soft and so cute!! It came cutely wrapped and in a tiny lil baggie, with a really cute Hello Kitty doll I was terribly tempted to keep! Next time I buy something from her, I will fully take advantage of filling the priority mail envelope to the brim! I shipped it inmediately, and it arrived pretty soon, I sent it on the 23rd and it arrived on the 27th! From Spain to bloody India! Sometimes the Post Service truly impresses me...

As soon it arrived over there, Gaurav gave it to his sister and bro-in-law, and they both loved it! And Rudra looks so cute with it! Here you can see a pic of Rudra with his new bib and one of Gaurav (the human pacifier) with the lil boy sleeping like an angel!

In short, if you want to buy some amazing handmade and unusual goodies for babies, RockerByeBaby is a shop NOT to be missed!
