Wearing Handmade Wednesday: Vitamina Eu!!

Being the handmade lover that I am, as well as the bookworm, I'm gonna continue mixing both books and handmade items entries in the blog, so Wearing Handmade Wednesday entries will continue to pop up now and then, and this one it's even book related!

You guys might remember an Etsy shop called Vitamina Eu where I got an awesome mug from my twin friend Deb. I fell in love with the "bookworm mug" as I called it, so when she had a 10% discount code for Xmas in July, I decided to indulge myself and get it!

When it arrived home it didn't come alone, Eu ,the super sweet lady behind the shop, had also painted the same design in a bookmark! Aren't they the cutest thing ever?



Also, in case you're wondering, the book used as a prop to show off the mug & bookworm is my ARC copy of Alienated by Melissa Landers!

Hello everyone!

This week I've missed my Monday book reviews, even if I have 2 books I really want to recommend to you guys, but with coming back from the trip, going back to work and the freaking heat wave over here... I really haven't managed to write a decent review for them!

But today I'm bringing a Wearing Handmade Wednesday entry! It had been waay too long since the last one, so it was about time!

Super cute hand painted mug I got my taste twin Deb for her birthday from Vitamina Eu!

That super cute mug is from an Etsy shop called Vitamina Eu, based in Italy and run by Eu, a super talented & nice young lady that was immensely helpful on sending the mug directly to Deb, so she could get it in time for her birthday! 

And in case you are wondering why I chose that particular design, well you can see the kitty next to the cup wanting to try what's in there? Doesn't he look remarkably like the one painted? I thought so! ;)

Rocky Van Gory camera bag!!!

Hello everyone!


We're again at the beginning of a new week, in the sometimes dreaded Monday. Not for me, since I'm happily having it off after working night shift!


Today, I'm finally working a long overdue blog entry about an amazing collaboration between two amazingly talented ladies that I love to bits: Rhiannon from Rocky The Zombie and Brooke from Brooke Van Gory designs!


For every photographer, and even more for every female photographer, there's this hunt for the right kinda bag, that you can take around without it being too obviously a camera bag but with enough space for everything you'd want to carry around, and that will protect your camera! And in my case, you have to add more space in there, so I can use it as carry on luggage!


The search for the perfect bag to take my camera and gadgets and carry on luggage was over when I saw Brooke working on camera bags (branching out from her awesome purses and diaper bags) and when Brooke & Rhi got their heads together and started working on bags with Rhi's amazing lil zombies hand painted or screened onto them!





After much thought and pondering, I decided to go with the Zombie with Cupcake design, and both ladies got onto work! Bag was made with two of my fave colours, Royal Blue & Black, and the zombie design was screened on silver ink. Super cute! Brooke gave it an adjustable strap made out of a car seat belt, so it's very tough and durable! And being able to wear it messenger style is really convenient when you have to go through airports and trains (and even more when you get stuck in London for 5 days and have to drag around hand luggage and suitcase everywhere!).








I'd totally recommend that if you're looking for a cool, durable bag with loads of packing space maybe it be a camera bag, or a purse or a diaper bag, go check Brooke's shop on Artfire to see what styles she offers and check her facebook fan page to check her previous bags, and of course, don't forget to go check Rhiannon's Etsy or Artfire shop for even more cute Zombie goodness!

My Little Pony, Custom Cranium Style!

This has been a blog entry for too long on the making! So much, that I have to ask forgiveness from Darien, the amazing artist behind Custom Cranium Osteo-Oddities, cause I promised her a blog entry a long time ago!


Darien not only makes the most amazing Snuff Stuffies from both discarded stuffed animals, and the bones of animals that died of natural causes or accidents, giving them both a second life, but she also tried her hand at painting My Little Ponies, and I fell in love with her pieces, and it was then when I got my first piece: the PiliPony! A gorgeous Day of the Dead style pony, and you can check its own blog entry here!


After that, I asked Darien for another two painted My Little Ponies, this time inspired by Iron Maiden's "Somewhere Back In Time" tour and all their Egyptian set up! Darien was as always more than willing to take on the task, and plunged into it, creating two amazing & unique pieces, and one lil mini-pony as a lovely surprise extra!




I can't say which of the two I'd choose as my favourite, since they're both painted with a great attention to detail! And I love that both have their eyes painted with the Eye of Horus!

Kreativlink!

I really am not doing too well about updating the blog, and my blogging has become a bit more erratic than I would like, but the beginning of summer and work have been sucking the energy out of me!


But, here I am again, with a few more blog entries all lined up for the rest of the week (hopefully) and on this hot Wednesday, I shall start by dedicating a full blog post to the talented Renate of Kreativlink!


Renate lives & creates in the lovely country of Austria (where I really really wanna go on vacation some day!). I've had her Etsy shop hearted for a long long time, and I had been wanting to get myself one of her journals for the longer time!


I first got one of her journals as a present for my friend Esther (see entry here) but after hearting items, trying to choose one from the many I liked and once I had decided, seeing that someone had snatched it before me, I decided to grab this gorgeous Ivy journal! And I was even happier after Renate told me it was the last one she had made!




Renate does create these amazing journals from scratch, hand cutting the paper for them, stain it and make it look old. Paints the designs and hand bound them, truly works of art in journal form!


My lovely Ivy journal is surely only the first one of the journals I know I will be getting from Kreativlink, at the very least I still have to grab myself the "right" Egyptian journal!


I love the way my Ivy journal came packed, with Austrian newspaper pages, that became a really nice background for the shots! And also, the certificate of authenticity and the bookmark that came with it! (And the Haribo bears that disappeared shortly after!).








Now I just need to bring myself to start using it, may it be to write, if my inspiration ever returns, or to take notes and plan blog entries and photos, and maybe even to start making lists about my photography, or about my travels or planning shoots... who knows! So many things can fill these pages!
