Hello guys!
Twitter might not always be an entirely positive and safe place, but many many times there are some amazing initiatives that you can find there, and one of them is #DiverseDecember!
Diverse December's objective is to promote diversity and the idea is to read as many books written by BAME authors during December and to share recommendations with each other to add more diversity to our shelves!
My list of books to read for Diverse December so far are:
- Written in the Stars by Aisha Saeed
- Under A Painted Sky by Stacey Lee
- None of the Above by I.W. Gregorio
- Charm & Strange by Stephanie Kuehn
- Empire of Sand by Teresa Yea
- Black Heart, Red Ruby by Teresa Yea
- Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaipotra & Dhonielle Clayton
- The Rose Society by Marie Lu
- Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
Although that's quite a list in itself and I don't know how much reading time I'll have this month with things are work being busy and hopefully some extra work done in the apartment, I'm also looking forward to more recommendations, so if you have any... leave them on the comments guys!
Had you heard about #DiverseDecember before? Are you planning to join?

Okay, I hate to appear stupid, but what does BAME stand for? Love this idea though and you have some great books and authors on your list Pili. I of course hope you love Empire of Sand and BHRR, I'll be looking forward to your thoughts on them. I need to read Everything, Everything, I've heard such good things about that one:)
ReplyDeleteI had to look it up too, Jenny! It's an acronym for Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic!
DeleteI haven't read any of these! I am the absolute worst. I do own The Young Elites and The Rose Society, so perhaps I'll make it a point to read them first.
ReplyDeleteI hope you will Maja! I'm hoping to work my way down most of this list this month!
DeleteI wish I could join, but I'm so behind schedule with a few ARCs and I don't know if I'll be able to read them.
ReplyDeleteThis idea sounds amazing though, I'll have to read those books as soon as I can!
I'm gonna be ignoring my ARCs a bit to take part on this, but I felt it was really important to do!
DeleteI would love to get some more diverse reading done! Thanks for bringing this to my attention. And you already know the book I am going to recommend... Orleans, ha ha. :)
ReplyDeleteDamn, I hope I can get it for my Kindle once this month's paycheck comes in finally!
DeleteLots of great choices! I hope you get to read them all. THE ROSE SOCIETY, YAASSS!!!
ReplyDeleteAlyssa @ The Eater of Books!
The Rose Society is Alyssa's book for December!! ;)
DeleteYessss I've read none of the above which was a fantastic read, and there are so many here that I'm looking forward to reading including Rose Society and Everything Everything! Diverse books are so important, so thanks for the amazing post!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeann!
DeleteDiverse December sounds like a great way to celebrate diversity and let it be in the spotlight! :) All the books you've picked sounds so amazing, Pili! I've read some of them and have others on the TBR so YAY! :D Happy reading!!! :)
