#TheShelfieHop hosted by My Friends are Fiction & BookEmoji!!!

Hello there guuuuys!!

I'm so beyond excited to take part of the first ever #TheShelfieHop hosted by the very awesome Kristen from My Friends Are Fiction and Crystal from Bookiemoji!!

What's a shelfie hop you might be asking? Well, it's a chance to share pics of our beloved shelves with all our books!! Or, in my case... a chance to post work-in-progress of my library room!!

I moved to my apartment on September 1st, and I had hoped to have advanced more on my library room (and other rooms too) but given that most shelves are huge and need two people to assemble, I need to wait till my bro or nephews have time off at the same time I do so they can come help... and that's rare!

So here goes!! Pics of my library room IN PROGRESS!!

That's currently the only shelf I have assembled! It's quite big and books can be stacked on double!

There you can see how solitary the poor shelf is feeling right now!

Right next to that shelf will go another just like it, that is somewhere in those boxes along with another two more shelves and the reading lamp, awaiting assembly!

And a small puff to sit, my phone and routers that also need somewhere to put them other than the floor, but I still need to buy something, although I already have it picked... next paycheck!

That's the space for two more narrower but taller shelves that are also awaiting assemply in that pile of boxes you've already seen!

And here's a closer look at the very few books that are on the shelf. They're the ones I had on a particular TBR pile for a challenge or even October, re-reads, that were not in boxes or that have arrived at the new address!

And you can also see Morrigan and Mini-maug there! Not their permanent home, but their place for now!

I have loads of plans still for my library room, but it's slow work and a lot of money, so I have to take it slowly! Once all the shelves are assembled and all the books sorted, I will get a divan/day bed so I can spend hours on end reading there!

And obviously once it's all done, I'll make a post on the blog sharing ALL THE PHOTOS!!

Now, I'm not the only one sharing pics of her shelves, and I'm sure most of the rest of my fellow book lovers will have finished shelves with many more books and less IKEA boxes, so go check them out!!

Friday Reads: The Girl With All The Gifts by M.R. Carey!!!

For my last Friday Reads entry of the week, I have yet another 5 stars review for today! I must thank Wendy from The Midnight Garden for her review, recommendation and book pushing to make sure I preordered this one!

And a big thank you and a hug to my dear canary and awesome fellow blogger Kristen from My Friends Are Fiction for buddy reading this one with me. If there is a book that need to be read with a buddy, is this one! Someone to discuss all the twists and to give moral support through the creepiest bits was extremely welcome!

The Girl with All the GiftsThe Girl with All the Gifts by M.R. Carey

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is one those books that you just cannot help but want to push into everyone's hands as soon as you're done reading it, even more... I started recommending it even while reading it!

Wendy from The Midnight Garden was the one that put this book on my radar, and conviced me to preorder it immediately! And boy am I glad she did! I read this one with Kristen of My Friends Are Fiction and it was the right thing to do! This is a wild ride of a book and having someone to talk to about all the shocks and turns you keep on getting!

I'm gonna try to keep this review as vague as I can because this book is best enjoyed with as little information as possible! Not without some warnings, of course. This is a disturbing book, with some really creepy moments, some extremely disgusting moments of violence (animal and children). But it is also full of food for thought and a lot of moral questions. And this is a zombie book, but really I should say that this is THE zombie book!

Now, you go and read the book! Never mind me babbling for a little longer here, because I cannot help it, since this was a fantastic book!

The summary is a bit vague and with good reason! We start the book wanting to know why Melanie is in a cell and then taken to a classroom at gun point. And it is not a mystery that is dragged along the book, not at all. I was actually very surprised how soon we got some of those answers, but then again... this book manages to throw you a curve ball every few chapters, completely unexpected and that leaves you reeling. And of course there are added creepy and disturbing moments all over the place!

And that ending... I had no clue how the book was gonna end because by then I was sure I was gonna get surprised not matter what theories I had made up on my own head. And yes, the ending got me completely by surprise. Once you think about it for a while, it is both a hopeful and still grim & hopeless sort of an ending and the most fitting sort of ending for this book.

This is a 5 stars book, and probably ALL THE STARS! I loved it to bits, how it made me squirm, how it made me think, how plausible is it, how science wasn't dumbed down but not confusing, how creepy and disturbing and how deep it was. A brilliant brilliant book indeed!

BEA and All the Books I Never Knew I HAD to Have!!

Going to BEA is one of those dreams for any book blogger and book lover, but we can't always make it true. A lot of us have been living BEA 2014 vicariously through tweets and posts from fellow bloggers that were in NYC.

One thing Kristen from My Friends Are Fiction, Crystal from Crystal in Bookland and myself noticed, is that by looking at the book hauls from our fellow bloggers in BEA, we've discovered books we now have been added to our TBR list that we hadn't heard of before, or hadn't paid attention to before!

And this is what this post is all about! Kristen, Crystal and myself are gonna be showing what books we discovered we must have after seeing them in BEA book hauls! Check Kristen's post HERE and Crystal's post HERE!

My list is not very long cause I have tried to control myself, too many books and too little time, but here are 5 books that I saw and knew I wanted!

Salt & Storm by Kendall Kulper

Zodiac by Romina Russell

The Vault of Dreamers by Caragh M. O'Brien

Jackaby by William Ritter

The Walled City by Ryan Graudin

Are there any books that you've discovered in BEA if you attended, or like Kristen, Crystal & me, through BEA book hauls?
