Hello there guys!
The blog is still "mostly" on hiatus, but now that most of the cleaning at the apartment is sorted and I have a pair of weeks till the kitchen people come, I'm gonna try and see if I can post more than once a week!
And to celebrate that, what better that a good giveaway, right?? Right!
This is one of those, spread the good karma sort of giveaways. I had planned to order a signed copy of Fall Out by Gwenda Bond from Malaprops because I needed that book and I love Gwenda and I wanted it signed, international shipping be damned! BUT, then I learnt that Gwenda was gonna be doing a signing of Fall Out at BEA!! *happy dance*
My gain is your gain too, since I got my wonderful signed copy at BEA, one of you can win a non-signed copy of Fall Out! It will be shipped directly from The Book Depository (YAY Free Shipping anywhere!).
Just in case you're wondering why would ought to want to read Fall Out, I'm adding here my mini-review for it and then you can enter the giveaway via that handy rafflecopter at the bottom of the post! ;)
Lois Lane: Fallout by Gwenda Bond
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
4.5 stars. I absolutely devoured it at the airport! With a wonderful voice for Lois Lane as a teen, but one that doesn't mind getting in trouble if it's because she's defending those without a voice or digging for the truth!
I loved her, her friendship with SmallvilleGuy, her beginnings at the Daily Scoop and simply everything from the high school set up, Lois family dynamics, and her need to accept herself as different and to realize that she'll find friends being herself.
The plot could feel a lil bit familiar if you're a big reader of comic books or avid watcher of Smallville the show, not necessarily because it's been done before, but because it's the sort of supernatural case you'd expect the guy from Smallville and Lois to be involved with!
I cannot wait to read more Lois Lane books Gwenda, please & thank you!!

a Rafflecopter giveaway
I'll be entering because I need this one!!! THanks for the awesome giveaway. That's another author I want to meet so bad, and was sad to not get to go to BEA because of.
ReplyDeleteAlso, my favorite superhero is probably Captain America. But that could just be because I love Chris Evans.
ReplyDeleteI love Hawkgirl! I love her wings and how different she is from other heroines. I just love her! :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite superhero is The Flash/Barry Allen!
ReplyDeleteI always liked Lois far more than I liked Clark! But my favorite superhero... that's a tough one! Electra, I suppose, or Iron Man, but only because I now permanently associate him with Robert Downey Jr., i.e. my weakness. :)
ReplyDeleteI love, love, LOVE the cover of this one Pili! I'm such a sucker for illustrated covers (I think you probably know this) and the very simplistic, graphic style of this one just makes me happy. So glad the story is as awesome as it's packaging:) Thanks so much for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHmm... I like Black Widow and Hawkeye because they don't have superpowers or genetic mutations lol. They're both only human but so brave and selfless :D I've not heard too much about this book so thank you Pili for sharing it!!
ReplyDeleteOnce again you have totally convinced me that I nEED this book in my life!! It looks amazing. How did I miss this at BEA?! This was your one you were waiting for I remeber now!! Still need. *huggles*
ReplyDelete<3 Britt
My favourite superheroine is Storm. I like that she has the power to manipulate the weather and I love her white hair, I usually like characters with white hair, I think it's awesome. Thanks for the giveaway! (Valentina B. -on the raffle)
ReplyDeleteMmmm, I think my favorite superhero has to be Superman. I grow up watching the movies and cartoons with my dad. Thanks so much for this awesome giveaway Pili. I hope you're having fun decorating your new house.xoxo
ReplyDeleteI am posting the giveaway to my two Facebook book pages!
DeleteI LOVE superhero type of stuff! I am very excited to read this! Also, every time I see this I want to slap a "Boy" at the end of the title... Fall Out Boy, eh? Ehh? No? Okay. It's probably just my obsession with the band ;) LOL.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite superhero is Captain America! I mean, it's a plus that he's played by Chris Evans *swoons* But overall, Steve Rogers is such a sweet guy, loyal guy. There is not one bad bone in him. I just love that guy SO much!
One of my favourite heroines is Celaena Sardothien from Throne Of Glass, because she is smart, brave, funny, and awesome.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a comic book reader, to be honest! I never really got into them. I'm glad you enjoyed this book, Pili! :)
ReplyDeleteNot entering but thank you for the giveaway and good luck to all!
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Yaaay :D Awesome post Pili. <3 Thank you so so much for giving away this book :) Your mini review is awesome. Thinking that I might like this book too :) It do seem awesome. <3 Fingers crossed for the giveaway ;p But ugh. Favorite superhero. I'm no good at this sort of thing, lol. BUT WAAAIT. Can I say Baymax? :D Because gosh, I adore him. And Hiro. So yeah. That is my answer :D Those are superheroes, yes? <3 (Also love Iron Man / Tony Stark. And Thor. And everyone, lol.)
ReplyDeleteWait. you said why. But, well, there isn't really a reason for why I love Baymax and Hiro. It just is. They are peeerfect. And oh so cute. And they are awesome at saving people. And just, Big Hero 6 is the most perfect movie :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite superhero would have to be the third Batgirl, Stephanie Brown. I just love her to pieces. She's such an great balance of a superhero and a girl in her late teens. Not to mention her love of waffles and jokes. ~ Danielle D.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually pretty curious about this one! I haven't ever seen any of the super hero-esque movies, because my brother always watched them and I was at the stage that I couldn't be bothered. But this seems like a super great book and I think I'll give it a try and enter the giveaway!! -Jessica
ReplyDelete(And my favorite super hero/heroine would probably have to be Wonder Woman because she's a freaking badass.) -Jessica
ReplyDeleteLately I've been getting into comics and I'm really enjoying reading about Batman and Ms. Marvel
ReplyDeleteI had not even heard of this book, so thank you for bringing it to my attention!
ReplyDeleteKate @ Ex Libris
Rogue from X-Men! :D Thanks for the great giveaway :D
ReplyDelete(Forgot to mention why) – loved how badass she was in the animated TV series :D
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds like so much fun, a fun twist on Superman and the Lois Lane universe. Thanks for the review Pili!
ReplyDeleteI'm undecided between Black Widow and Katana, both totally badass heroines. Super excited for this book, thanks for the chance to win it! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks so much for the chance| I love all the X-Men, I can't help it! I don't even have a favorite!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the sound of the main character. People who are curious and go out and get what they want always intrigue me. I have to say right now one of my favourite heroines has to be Fanny from Mansfield Park Yep, going classical ;)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite superhero is Captain America also known as Steve Rogers . He's brave and he wants to help people by any costs . He values friendship . He overcomes his own limits .
ReplyDeleteI guess it has to be superman; I grew up loving the movies and I adored them, so I think it has to be him,
ReplyDeleteMy favorite superhero is batman because I love how flashy his gadgets are. And of course, because he has a high detective skills that I really admired!
