Well, here is the first official first post for Ink & Batter!
I'm starting with one of the books I've had in my list to make inspired cupcakes for quite a while! Splintered by A.G. Howard! Since it is a very creepy & a bit Burtonian reimagining of Alice in Wonderland, I've made some more typical Alice items and some that are straight from the book!
I chose green tea cupcakes (recipe from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over The World) with cream cheese icing, and used green cupcake liners to match the cover of the book!
As you can see, there are some bugs, the ones that Alyssa doesn't want to hear, some flowers cause you can't forget the creepy flowers of Wonderland, a key that is important to the story, a skateboard for the "skate girl", the clock that ticks, teapot & cup for when Alyssa has tea with her mum and a lil faery for Gossamer!
What say you guys? I had a blast working on this one, modeling with fondant always reminds me of when I was a lil girl playing with plasticine!
Stay tuned for more Ink & Batter cupcakes next week!
Oh my gosh they're gorgeous! Thanks so much for using Splintered as your first yummy post! I am both honored and hungry. LOL. So, who go to help you eat them all? *jealous*

DeletePILI!!!! I know I said this last time, but these are AMAZING!!!!! You are so talented! They're all absolutely gorgeous, but I think the tiny tea set is my favorite. I just want to keep it forever, but I don't have that kind of restraint, so if it was in front of me I'd likely have to eat it:) Can't wait to see what you come up with next!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Jenny! I had a blast modeling everything! I didn't have a mold for the tea set, so I did it by hand, but I think it looks pretty great!
DeleteI can't wait to share all the ideas that I get!! =D
They are amazing! I think I would just stare at the them... I don't think I could ever eat those. Do you actually eat them, because I wouldn't know where to start! Hehe. My favourite of the lot is the clock or the faery, but I can't choose between them! Can't wait til next week. Lovely post, Pili! :) Happy Baking! :P
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Emma!! I never eat them, I usually give them away and people sometimes eat them and sometimes keep for decoration! =D
DeleteThat is the coolest thing I think I've ever seen. I'm not going to pretend I've even gotten around to reading the post yet I'm just looking at the cakes! They're AMAZING! Xx
ReplyDeleteHehehehehe, the whole point of the post is the cakes!! The rest of it is explaining what the designs are for those who haven't read the book! ;)
DeleteThanks a lot, Emily!
Ooo, the one with the ladybug is my favorite! So fun, and I bet they were tasty to eat as well. I love this idea for a feature, as well as the name! Ink and Batter is perfect. :) I can't wait to see more photos of your REBEL BELLE ones, too.
